Request - could you do one where reader and Kayce are together (Monica and Kayce have been divorced for a while, and have grown as people and are platonic friends), but Tate wants his parents back together again, so he tells Reader that he doesn't think she's good enough for his dad and that he'll never want her around, so Reader leaves Kayce without talking to him about it...months ago by and after Tate tries to get Monica and Kayce back together, or mentions it a lot, Kayce tells Tate that their marriage is over, and kind of rants about how reader left without an explanation, so Tate confesses, and Kayce goes after Reader to try and win her back

You got into your car and checked your phone. The work day had been long and you were looking forward to getting out of your work clothes and into a warm bath. But looking at your screen, you saw a name you hadn't seen in months.

Two missed calls from Kayce Dutton

One message from Kayce Dutton

Your heart began to ache. It was a familiar feeling, but you had worked on yourself enough to not have felt it in a while. But the ache and longing filled you instantly. Frowning, you swiped your finger and pressed the text message icon.

I know you must hate me. But if you could call me, I would appreciate it. Please. - Kayce Dutton

The message before this one was from four months ago. You had sent Kayce a message saying that he was crazy, but you loved him. You loved him. Another sting shot through your heart.

What could Kayce possibly want from you? Had your disappearance not been sufficient enough for him? You turned your car on and left the parking lot. It took you about ten minutes to get to your small cabin on the edge of town. Getting inside, you put your stuff down and kicked your shoes off.

Walking to your couch, you sat down and pulled your phone back out. Your thumb hovered over Kayce's name. Taking a breath, you pressed down. He answered on the second ring.

"Hello?"

"Hi..." You spoke quietly.

"Y/N?" Kayce asked. "Hi...thank you for calling me back."

"Um...sure," You switched ears. "I-I'm not sure what you need though."

"Y/N... look," You heard Kayce sigh. "Where are you?"

"Where am I?" You asked.

"I just...I need to tell you something and I can't do it over the fucking phone," Kayce said. "Can I come by? Are you home?"

"I-I am," You stuttered. "Kayce, what is it?"

"I'll be there in twenty minutes," Kayce said. "Leaving the ranch now."

You hung up and took a shaky breath. Kayce was coming here...to tell you something. Your eyes looked around and saw your place was pretty neat right now. You decided to change into leggings and a sweater, at least you'd appear comfortable. Your mind started to wonder as you remember the conversation that started all of this.

It just hadn't been with Kayce...

Flashback

"Y/N?" Tate looked up at you as you both stood on the back porch after coming back from riding.

"Yes?" You smiled at him.

"Why are you here?" Tate asked.

"Why am I here?" You leaned up from untying your boots. "I uh...we just went riding?"

"No, why are you here with my dad?" Tate asked.

"Because...your dad and I are dating?" You were confused as to where this was coming from.
