She likes it when I wear a suit
Pick her favorite movie

Kayce held your door open for you as you slid out from the truck. Your heels slipping on the ice though, and if it hadn't been for Kayce's quick reflexes, you'd have fallen on your ass. But his arm wrapping around you pulled you against him, your hands holding onto his suit jacket.

"Easy," Kayce smirked.

"Funny," You rolled your eyes.

"Darlin', I'm in a suit...going to see some chick flick," Kayce raised an eyebrow at you.

"Fine," You sighed before leaning up and pressing a kiss to his cheek, his stubble tickling your lips. "Thank you."

Kayce shut your door and wrapped his arm around your shoulders as you both hurried inside the theatre out of the col.

When I open up
When she's talkin' to me

"Kayce, I can't help you if I don't know what's wrong," You told him, almost in tears yourself from the frustration the last hour had put you through.

"I can't," Kayce shook his head.

You swallowed hard and walked up to him, forcing him to look at you. Gently, you placed your hand on his cheek, trying to show the man some compassion his family clearly didn't seem to have.

"It's just me," You said with a small smile. "Kayce...you know I don't care about your scars."

Kayce sighed, turning his lips to press a kiss against your palm.

"I don't think I can do it," He mumbled.

"The job?" You asked and Kayce nodded. "Why not?"

"I'm not my father," Kayce said.

"Did you ever think that would be the reason you could do it?" You asked him. "Did you ever think you have strengths your fathers doesn't?"

"I ain't a politician," Kayce sighed.

"One of the many reasons I love you," You smiled. "Kayce...you can't let your fear of becoming your father dictate every single decision you make in your life."

"What if I can't do this?" Kayce asked quietly after a few moments of silence.

"You won't know unless you try?" You offered. "And if you fall...then I'll be right here when you do...but baby, you won't fail at this. Right now, I think I know you better than you do."

"Probably so," Kayce smiled at you for the first time that afternoon.

When I go get groceries
And I bring back flowers

"Hey," You called out over your shoulder as you placed the pie in the oven.

"Really coming down out there," Kayce said.

You wiped your hands on the apron around your waist and turned to look at Kayce. But your vision was cut short by a beautiful bouquet of yellow, pinks, orange, and purple flowers...tied with a burlap string. They smelled heavenly, mixed with the spring downpour happening right now outside. Your hands came up to hold the stems and bring the bouquet down so you saw Kayce's smirk behind them.

"What're these for?" You smiled, taking a deep breath of the scent.

"I saw 'em," Kayce shrugged as he sat the bag in the hand down on the counter. "Thought of you."

Kayce had run to get you more ingredients for your pies you were making for Sunday supper. He started to unload the bag as you hugged the flowers to your chest.

And I rub her back
For like half an hour

You listened to the fire cracking in the corner. The power had gone out about an hour ago due to the storm. It had rolled through, but the foreman's cabin was almost the last one to regain power on the ranch. You didn't mind though. You were currently laying halfway on top of Kayce on the couch. Both of your feet tangle while his fingers rubbed circles along your back. He had almost lulled you to sleep with how comfortable you were.

"You sleeping on me?" Kayce murmured.

"Almost," You snuggled into him more. "Why? Got somewhere to be?"

"No, baby," Kayce chuckled as he pressed his palm down your spine. "M'right where I want to be."

She likes it when I pour tequila
'Cause she knows that we about to
Have ourselves a little night

"What're we? Seventeen?" You laughed as Kayce slid a shot of tequila toward you.

"Take the shot," Kayce rolled his eyes.

"You tryin' to get me drunk?" You held up the shot glass.

Kayce clinked his with yours and you both tapped your glasses down on the table before tossing them back. The liquid burning your throat slightly, but it was smooth as you smiled at Kayce.

"I might be," Kayce winked at you, reaching to pour you another round.

When I play John Denver
Through that little Bose speaker
And I start dimming those lights

Kayce's arm wrapped around your back as the two of you swayed on the back porch. There were lights streamed up from the rafters as he spun you around slowly. Kayce had just dimmed the main lights on the porch so the glow around you was perfect. John Denver played in the background as you listened to Kayce's heartbeat in your ear, pressed against his chest.

His work had been draining today. Your work on the ranch had cost you to be bucked off your horse. So, the two of you being able to end up here was the saving grace. You leaned your head up, chin resting against Kayce's chest as he smiled down at you. His caramel eyes seemed to shine in the dim lights.

And she knows by the way that I'm kissing on her
That we gon' take our time
She likes it when I
She likes it when I
She likes it when I mmm

Kayce leaned down and pressed his lips to your cheek, holding there for a few seconds. He then moved higher , near the corner of your eye. Then he moved to your ear and pressed a sloppy kiss against your skin. Your hands around his back, slid down until you looped your thumbs into the back of his belt.

Living on the ranch, time wasn't always on your side for intimate moments with Kayce. But right now, there was no where either of you needed to be as you swayed with him. You were barefoot, making him slightly taller than normal. When you usually had on the blue sundress you did, Kayce didn't keep it on you for long. But as his lips dragging down your neck slowly, you knew that he wanted to take his time loving on you tonight.

When I leave a note
Make us reservations
Just because
That girl's worth celebrating

You heard Kayce's truck still running as his bootsteps made their way up the front porch. You met Kayce at the door and watched his eyes look you up and down. You blushed still, even though you've been with this man for years now.

"This okay?" You asked smoothing down your denim skirt. "Your note just said you made us reservations."

"You're beautiful," Kayce leaned in and kissed your cheek. "Come on."

He laced his fingers with you as you made your way back to his truck.

"What's all this for?" You asked as he opened your door.

"Celebrating," Kayce mumbled, nodding his head for you to get in.

You racked your brain.

"Celebrating?" You asked. "Celebrating what?"

"You," Kayce smiled.

"Me?" You narrowed your eyes. "What're you doing, Dutton?"

"Get in the truck," Kayce rolled his eyes.

When I already know
What she's thinkin'
She don't have to say it yeah

"You need to hold it," Kayce shifted in his seat as he drove you both home after dinner.

"You don't know what I'm thinking," You laughed.

"I do too," Kayce glanced at you, and he shifted his hands with holding the wheel.

"I'm just looking around," You shook your head.

"You're looking at me with those eyes," Kayce smirked.

"What eyes?" You leaned across the console.

"Those eyes where I'm sure if I pulled over you'd be over here with me in a second," Kayce took the exit for the ranch.

"You don't know me," You mumbled, crossing your arms at how right he was.

"Don't I?" Kayce laughed.

You groaned as you rolled over, trying to escape the sunlight coming through the windows. You fell into Kayce's side though, making him grunt into his pillow. Sighing loudly, you snuggled as close as you could to him, using his shoulder to help block out the light.

"Stop, baby..." Kayce groaned.

"Close the curtains," You mumbled.

"You close the curtain," Kayce said.

"Don't yell," You ran your fingers through your hair.

Kayce turned onto his back and sighed. Your whole body was sore, in both good and bad ways. Kayce slowly sat up, rubbing his face.

"Fuck, I'm hungover," He whispered out.

"I warned you about the tequila," You burrowed your face into Kayce's pillow.

"Don't say tequila," Kayce took a few deep breaths through his nose.

You leaned up on your elbows with a frown.

"I can smell it through my pores," You moaned.

"Stop talking," Kayce rubbed his temples.

"I need coffee," You blinked through the harsh sunlight.

Kayce looked down at you. After a few seconds of adjusting to the light, your eyes found his. He softened his expression as the two of you looked at one another. His hand came up and rubbed along your chin and jaw, the feeling soothing to you and making your eyes flutter.

"C'mon," Kayce said, tugging the blankets back.

"Don't make me move," You groaned as he stood up.

Kayce leaned down on the bed so you were face to face with him. His lips pressed against your nose gently.

"Come take a shower with me," He smiled. "Then we can get you some coffee and breakfast."

"You want more?" You asked him playfully. "After last night and now that we can barely move?"

"I'll do all the work this morning," Kayce's hands slipped under your body and tugged you closer to him near the edge. "You did enough last night."

"Mmmm, yes, I did," You smirked as you sat up in the tangled sheets, pushing your hair out of your face.

Kayce leaned down and kissed you deeply before pulling you to stand up with him. The blankets and sheets falling from your body. As you followed him into the bathroom, Kayce hit the tiny speaker in the corner of the room and John Denver's voice filled the room along with the water flowing.
