Request - Can u do a one shot of teen daughter and Kayce and readers where he buys her her first horse then she says she wants to get into barrel racing and along the way she gets really good at it and she ends up at the NFR and kayce is just really proud of her and everything.
You should have known with a name like Daisy Dutton, your daughter would be famous. But right now, as you waited in the wings of the arena, watching her sit proudly on her horse, all you could think about was that little blonde running wild through the pasture at the ranch. Her curls were always a mess, no matter how tight you tied them back. She was the spitting image of your husband except for her eyes. Those were your eyes and it was the only thing you seemed to have given her in the physicality department.
"Hey," Kayce came up beside you, leaning his arms on the poles as you both waited for her run to begin.
Kayce's eyes darted back and forth toward the gate and the clock. He had never missed one of Daisy's runs. He had always somehow made it in time to see her compete. He was always at the end when she'd come barreling toward them, no matter what the clock read. He shifted on his feet as he waited impatiently. You smiled, reaching over and rubbing his back as you stood next to him.
The clock marker set, dinging out over the arena and the crowd started to cheer. It was as if it was slow motion as you heard the loud ticker count down.
Three...Two...One...
Flashback
"Daisy Grace Dutton!" You called out. "I will tell your daddy he can take your birthday gift back this instant unless you're out here in five...four...three...two-"
"I'm here, Momma!" Daisy laughed as she jumped down the back porch steps.
You narrowed your eyes at her as she stopped next to you.
"Sorry," Daisy batted her eyes at you.
"Ten-year-olds don't keep their mommas waiting," You wrapped your arm around her shoulders as you both made your way down to the barn.
"Where's Daddy?" Daisy asked as you got closer.
"Look at the whole picture, babe," You whispered to her, pushing her hair back.
Her eyes looked around the place until she landed on her dad in the middle of one of the corrals. Standing next to him was a mare with a yellow bridle. Daisy stopped next to you and you had to check she was still breathing.
"What is that?" Daisy asked, pointing.
"Well...looks to me like we might have a new family member," You smiled at her.
"Are you serious?" Daisy looked up at you. "That's...that's mine? A-As in I have m-my own horse? Mine?"
"I think you need to ask your daddy," You laughed.
"Daddy?" Daisy called out.
"Ain't any of us getting any younger, Daisy Grace," Kayce laughed.
"Oh my-no way!" Daisy took off running.
She hopped in between the first and second wooden rods in the fencing. You laughed as you slowly walked over to join them, Kayce already telling Daisy all about the horse. He had driven all the way to Billings to pick up the mare. You leaned against the fence as Kayce helped Daisy into the saddle.
"Momma, look!" Daisy smiled at you.
"Already a star," You smiled back.
"I'm gonna be a barrel racer!" Daisy laughed and looked at Kayce. "Right, Daddy?"
