Request - The reader was in an abusive relationship that Kayce didn't know about, Now she's with Kayce. One night she was out at a bar with Beth or someone and she goes outside for something. Her ex finds her and hurts her, Beth finds her and takes her home and Kayce takes care of her and makes plans to find the ex with the wranglers.

"Why have we never gone out drinking together before?" Beth asked over the live music in the bar you both were in.

"Because you scare me," You smiled at her.

"Funny...I was gonna say that about you," Beth laughed.

"Me?" You were shocked. "Why are you scared of me?"

"Cause you could take my brother away from all of us in a heartbeat," Beth nodded. "He's so in love with you...so I just don't want you to do that."

"I'm not taking Kayce anywhere," You shook your head. "This is his home...even though I don't agree with everything you Duttons do...I do understand why you do it, and the purpose behind it. So no, I'm not gonna take Kayce away from here."

"Maybe I'll fall in love with you?" Beth smiled.

"I don't think Kayce shares very well," You giggled.

"No," Beth shook her head. "If you're in the room, his eyes are on you at all times."

"You're gonna make me blush," You finished your beer. "I'm gonna run to the restroom. Get me another beer!"

You hopped off the bar stool and made your way through the crowd. You were in town, and it was peak tourist season, so it was crowded. You walked outside, breathing in the fresh air, and made your way around to the back, the restrooms being back there. You saw a woman walk into the room, so you leaned against the building to wait.

"Gotta be fucking kidding me."

You looked over at the voice and your stomach dropped. You hadn't seen your ex, Nick, in almost two years. In fact, the last time you saw him was through a glass window when you pointed him out to the police as the guy you put in the hospital one night. Or you should say...finally put you in the hospital.

You were together for six months, and you could count the eight times he hit you, the ninth being the one that sent you to the emergency room. After that night you put a transfer in to move out in Western Montana, away from the bigger cities you had grown up in. You knew there would always be a chance you'd see Nick, seeing as it was a large state, but small in population. You just didn't realize it'd be here at this moment.

"Y/N?" Nick asked, stepping closer to you. "The fuck have you been?"

"Get away from me," You said to him. "You can't come near me, or did you not ever read the restraining order?"

That seemed to rile him up more.

"Still got that bitch mouth on you I see," Nick was close enough now you could smell the beer on him.

"Go away," You said again.

When he didn't move, you decided to leave. You stepped out and were going to move around him when Nick grabbed your arm and swung you back against the wall, holding you there.

"Get off!" You yelled, but there wasn't anyone around.

"Fuck you!" Nick pulled you close to slam you back against the wall. "You made my life a living hell, do you know that?"

You winced at the contact with the wall, the back of your head and shoulder sore now. Your body went into freeze mode, strangely remembering all the times before even though it had been years. You hung your head down and didn't answer him.
