Request - They're back together after a break and for the first time in a while Kayce is actually excited for Valentine's Day and making plans which makes Y/N a bit amused, but touched.
Kayce pulled up to the coffee shop where you were meeting one of your friends for a catch-up date. He was going to run a few errands in town and then come get you before heading back. You unbuckled your seatbelt and smiled at him.
"Thank you," You told him.
"See you in a few hours?" Kayce asked.
"Mmhmm," You nodded, leaning over the console.
Kayce's lips met yours for a quick kiss. You got out quickly due to traffic and waved to Kayce before he drove off. It still sent your heart into over drive, kissing him. You and Kayce had probably shared too many kisses to count, but that was the first time the two of you got together.
You walked inside and found your friend in the corner with your drinks already waiting. After a hug you sat down across from her. There were little red hearts on the cup as you took a sip and let the warm liquid soothe you from being in the bitter cold.
"Happy Valentines Day," Your friend said.
"Same to you," You laughed.
"Kayce drop you off?" She asked.
"Yeah, he had some errands he needed to run," You nodded. "Plus, I the driving in town so it worked out for both of us."
"How's that going?" She asked you.
"Pretty good," You smiled. "It's...I hate sounding cliché, but it feels different this time."
"In what ways?" Your friend smiled.
"He's...better," You said. "I can't really describe it, but I feel like I'm more of a priority for him this time around. I feel like I'm equal to him in this relationship."
"That's always a good thing," Your friend laughed. "Maybe the new job is doing him well?"
"He likes it," You nodded. "Even when he's tired or annoyed. So, I think it's helped, especially on the father front."
"I was gonna ask about his dad," Your friend grimaced.
"He's kept his distance this time," You shrugged. "I don't know...I know Kayce and John have had major conversations about some things. I've tried to respect Kayce though and stay out of that part of it."
"Might be for the best?" Your friend asked.
"I think so," You agreed.
"But...you're happy?" She smiled at you. "You look happy."
"I am," You nodded. "Kayce makes me happy."
**
"She also said they're gonna try for baby number three," You told Kayce as he dove you back to the ranch.
"Thought you said they were done at two?" Kayce looked at you.
"I thought they were," You shrugged. "Guess it can change once you get to that point?"
"Things can always change," Kayce nodded.
You glanced in the backseat but saw it was completely empty.
"What?" Kayce asked as he pulled up in front of the foreman's cabin.
"What errands did you have to do?" You asked him as you both got out.
"Just a few things," Kayce shrugged as he walked up the front steps and opened the door.
Kayce stepped back and let you walk in before him. You flipped the light on and stopped mid-step. There were four large bouquets of red roses on the small dining table on one side of the room, a small stuffed cow and a letter in front of them. You heard Kayce shut the door behind y'all and turned to look at him.
"Happy Valentine's Day," Kayce said gently as he took your coat from your hands.
"What?" You looked back, stuttering. "H-How did...?"
"Errands," Kayce shrugged.
"I didn't think we were doing anything," You said as you walked over to the table. "We don't usually..."
"This time is different," Kayce said standing next to you. "We're different this time and I don't want...I want to do things like this with you."
"Kayce..." You smiled up at him. "This is...lovely. Thank you."
A knock at the door broke your stare. Kayce walked over and you heard him say thank you to whoever was at the door. Kaye brought in a large basket and shut the door He walked over to the kitchen, and you caught a whiff of something delicious.
"What do you have there?" You asked him as he started taking things out.
"Supper," Kayce glanced at you. "Compliments of Gator."
"Bless him," You smiled and then looked at the letter.
You gently picked it up, feeling Kayce's eyes on you as you opened it and started to read.
Y/N
There ain't enough stars for me to count the ways I'm thankful for you.
Your heart has given us another chance, and as long as there is air in my lungs, I promise to do this right.
I promise to support you, be there for you. I promise to be the man you deserve this time.
Your love is the only thing I need in this life. And you've given me that.
I love you.
Kayce
You smiled as you read the letter a few times, soaking in Kayce's words. You placed the letter down and looked over at Kayce who had finished setting out your supper. Walking over, Kayce opened up one of his arms to wrap around you as you hugged him.
"I'm glad we're together again," You mumbled into his shoulder.
Kayce pressed a kiss to your temple.
"Thank you for that," Kayce said. "Thank you for giving me a second chance."
"Love makes you do crazy things," You smiled, your nose still tucked against his neck.
You felt Kayce tense and knew he heard you right. You looked up at him as his eyes searched yours, making sure he heard you correctly. Instead of letting him ask you, you popped up on your toes and kissed him quickly.
"You love me?" Kayce mumbled against your lips.
You nodded your head.
Kayce's other hand came up to hold the back of your head as he kissed you deeply. It made your knees go weak as you held onto him. Pulling back Kayce rested his forehead against yours.
"I love you," He told you. "Never stopped."
"Me neither," You smiled. "Thank you for my flowers...and supper."
You watched Kayce look over at the food, his mind thinking about something. You leaned your hand against his chest and looked up at him as if to ask what he was thinking.
"You can warm that, right?" Kayce asked you.
You glanced at the chicken parmesan.
"Sure," You shrugged. "Pop it in the oven...do you think it's cold?"
"No," Kayce acted quickly and picked you up in his arms. "Just checking."
He turned and walked you back to the bedroom. Your arms held him tightly as your giggles filled the cabin.
