Request - What if Kayce and Y/N are taking a break it's really hard being apart because they are the loves of each other's lives, but the break is amicable. Y/N is thinking of asking to meet up again and talk and get back together but before she asks one night in the middle of the night Kayce calls her, first time in a while. Saying he misses her voice wants to meet up ect (getting back together, not just a booty call)

"Y/N?" A voice said behind you.

You turned and saw Jimmy standing behind you in the check out line.

"Hey, Jimmy," You smiled. "How are you?"

"Good," Jimmy nodded, you?" He was holding two propane tanks.

"I'm fine," You said. "How are...things?"

"Fine, you know..." Jimmy shrugged. "Ranch stuff."

"Yeah," You nodded. "Well, good."

You stepped up in line and Jimmy followed you.

"You uh...ever gonna come back and say hi?" Jimmy asked.

You looked back over your shoulder.

"Kayce and I are taking a break right now, Jimmy," You gave him a sad smile.

"Yeah, but you could...I mean you were all our friends," Jimmy said. "And a break means there's an ending...right?"

"I don't think Kayce would like me coming around to just see y'all," You put your stack of notecards and matches on the conveyor belt.

"Can't be worse than he already is," Jimmy put the tanks on the belt next to your items.

"What do you mean?" You asked him.

"He's kind of...well..." Jimmy thought for a moment. "Yeah, he's sort of an asshole now, Y/N."

"Now?" You stepped up as the cashier checked out your items.

"He's just...moody," Jimmy shrugged. "Yells a lot...fights people...I don't know. He ain't like he used to be. He's more like Rip now...just angry."

You frowned as you handed the cashier a twenty-dollar bill. You waited until Jimmy checked out and then walked with him out of the store. You both stopped at this truck, your car a few spaces over.

"I'm sorry about Kayce's temper," You told Jimmy. "Just...let him blow off some steam or something. Tell him things are okay."

"That used to be your job," Jimmy smiled. "Not that we don't miss you for you...but you certainly made our boss a better person. See ya!"

"Bye, Jimmy," You walked over to your car and got in.

Later that night you were curled up on your couch, the television on but low in the background. You had been staring at your phone for the last thirty minutes, looking at Kayce's name. You had been thinking about him ever since you left Jimmy this afternoon.

You and Kayce had decided to take a break a few weeks ago. He was fighting with his father more and it was getting to the point where Kayce was taking out his frustrations on you. You had tried to reason with him, but when Kayce put himself in danger for his father...you drew the line. You weren't going to lose him because of his father.

Your phone came alive in your hand, showing a picture of you and Kayce taken a few months back. You were sitting between his bent knees by the river, Kayce's head leaning against yours as his arm wrapped around you. Both of you had large smiles on your faces.
