Request – Slip of the tongue Part Two - where they possibly get married, and they adopt each other's kids.
You walked over to where Kayce and the wranglers had all pulled their horses up to the barn after today's work. They had gone out to a few pastures to prepare for the spring cattle drives that were fast approaching...even though the mountains still had snow on them.
Kayce handed his reigns to Walker as you walked up to him. He was dusty and had a bit of sun on his cheeks, but you found him adorable as your lips met his in a sweet kiss hello. The two of you had been married for about three weeks now, and every day you asked yourself why you had waited this long to say yes to this cowboy.
"You gonna meet me every time?" Kayce asked as he pulled his glove off and walked back up to the main lodge with you.
"I can stay inside the office until five if you want me to," You smirked at him.
"Nope," Kayce shook his head, pulling you into his side by throwing his arm over your shoulders. "I want that kiss at the end of every day."
"That's what I thought," You giggled, wrapping your arm around his waist. "Kids said they're making us supper tonight."
"By themselves?" Kayce looked at you.
"That's what they told me," You shrugged.
"What's that about?" Kayce asked.
"Probably want something," You smiled. "Maybe a dog?"
"We have dogs," Kayce frowned.
"We have cattle dogs," You laughed. "Maybe more like a pet dog."
"That you and I will have to take care of," Kayce sighed as you both walked into the back door.
"I always had a hound dog growing up," You smiled as you shut the door. "Might be nice?"
"Let's see what they actually want first," Kayce hung his hat up and smiled at you.
You left Kayce to take a shower before supper and walked into the kitchen to see Tate and your daughter hard at work. There was a large pot on the stovetop and Tate was husking corn over a trash bin.
"Now I know you didn't remember to do that over the bin," You smiled at Tate.
"I did, Momma," Your daughter giggled from standing on the stool so she could stir the pot better.
"Smells good in here," You leaned against the counter. "What're y'all making?"
"Potato and corn soup," Your daughter answered.
"And bread," Tate nodded to a loaf cooling off to the side.
"I'm...impressed," You glanced around. "You two did this by yourselves?
"Well," Your daughter looked at Tate.
"We may have had help," Tate said. "But don't tell Dad!"
"Bless Gator," You smiled. "So, you want to just come get us when you're ready for us?"
"Yeah," Your daughter nodded. "Go drink or something."
You rolled your eyes but walked back into one of the living rooms and settled down on a couch. Your legs were crossed, reading a magazine, when Kayce walked in.
"Didn't get two steps in before they were yelling at me," Kayce laughed, sitting down next to you. "Still don't know what this is about?"
"They're keeping it a tight lid," You looked up from your magazine and smiled. "You smell better."
