Request - The reader is in the truck waiting on Kayce and someone gets in the truck and takes her for a ride but the reader grabs the wheel crashing it and Kayce comes running.
Kayce pulled into one of the spots on the side of the town square. Placing the truck in park he looked over at you.
"You wanna come with?" Kayce asked.
"I think you can handle this one on your own, cowboy," You smirked at him.
"I always feel like an idiot though," Kayce said.
"What? Why?" You asked.
"Because...your drink is...it ain't normal," Kayce sighed.
"I get a latte," You laughed. "The only thing more normal than that is straight-up coffee."
"No, but you get it all...different and shit," Kayce said.
"If by shit, you mean a vanilla latte with oat milk...then it's the best-tasting shit there is," You giggled.
"The fuck is oat milk even?" Kayce asked.
"You're cute sometimes." You smirked at him. "Kayce...it's what I like."
"I know," Kayce pulled his ballcap on since it was slightly drizzling outside. "Hot, I assume?"
"Yes, please," You smiled at him. "I love you."
"Mmhmm," Kayce rolled his eyes before hopping out of his truck and walking around the front to go into the coffee shop.
You watched him hold open the door for two women and you sighed. You were head over heels in love with that cowboy. Looking into the widow, you could see the line inside so you settled back against the seat.
A few minutes later, you thought you heard a tap on the back of the truck. Thinking that was weird, you looked behind you but didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Frowned there was a knock at your widow, making you jump and look over.
All of a sudden, the driver's side door opened and a man jumped into the truck.
"Hey!" You screamed.
"The fuck?" The man said, surprised to see you in there.
"Get out!" You yelled at him.
The guy flipped the truck into drive though and turned the wheel.
"Shit," He said.
Was this really happening? You glanced around but the truck's motion caused you to slam back into your seat. The guy pressed the gas and you lurched forward when he tried to correct the truck.
"Stop!" You screamed, trying to hit him.
"Fuck off, lady!" The guy slapped your hands away.
"Stop the fucking truck!" You tried to open your door but it was locked.
You were panicking, running out of options. You hit your widow as he curved around the road.
"Help!" You yelled.
"Shit!" The guy almost ran into another truck that was honking.
You looked back over as the guy turned to look over his shoulder. Something inside you told you to do it. That this was the only shot you had at maybe stopping him and whatever was happening to you right now.
You reached over as he tried to turn the wheel. Your hands grabbed the steering wheel and you yanked hard toward you. The guy looked at you and his fist slammed into your cheek, but you got the job done.
Kayce's truck overcorrected itself and the two of you went flying into the airbags as the truck rammed into a cinderblock barrier.
It was like all you could hear was a ringing in your ear as you slowly opened your eyes. There was smoke coming from the front of Kayce's truck. When you tried to take a breath, you coughed from the powder around you due to the airbags going off. You coughed a few more times and could hear the guy next to you gagging.
The driver's door was yanked open and you saw Kayce. His caramel eyes were wild as he took in the sight of his truck inside. His eyes fell on you though instantly.
"Y/N," Kayce said.
"I'm okay," you wheezed.
Kayce's face then contorted to anger and you saw him look at the guy. Kayce's hands were instantly dragging the guy from the truck and throwing him on the ground. Kayce was yelling at him but you couldn't hear as you opened your door, the cool air hitting your face.
A few people who must have been close came up to you, asking if you were okay. You held onto this woman's hands as you slid from the truck to your feet. You were fine, just a bit shaken up by everything. A cop car pulled up behind Kayce's truck and you looked back over to see Kayce already had the guy in handcuffs and face down on the road.
**
"Ouch," You winced.
"Sorry," Kayce smiled apologetically at you.
You were seated on his bathroom counter in the foreman's cabin now. Kayce had some antiseptic on a cotton ball as he dapped at the cut on your forehead from the airbag impact.
"Almost done," He whispered as he finished up.
Kayce threw the cotton ball away and then blew softly against your cut. You had taken some Advil when you first got back and you could feel it kicked in to help fight your headache. The guy who tried to steal Kayce's truck was a runaway from two towns over. He thought Kayce had just left the truck running and didn't know you were still in it. The last you saw of him though when Kayce was putting him into the back of a cop car, was a broken nose.
"Thanks," You smiled up at Kayce.
"You alright?" Kayce's hand came up to cup your cheek.
"I will be," You sighed.
"What's wrong?" Kayce asked.
"Just sorry it happened," You shrugged. "Can't believe it happened."
"Yeah," Kayce's thumb rubbed under your eye. "This is why I drink my coffee at the house."
Your eyes shot to Kayce who was trying to not smile at you.
"You're such an ass," You pushed against his chest.
"I'm kidding," Kayce laughed as he stepped closer between your legs. "I'm sorry, baby."
"I was gonna let you try the oat milk too so you'd stop making fun of me," You mumbled.
"There's some in the fridge," Kayce mumbled.
"What?" You tilted your head.
"I got some the other day at the store 'cause I know you like it," Kayce said. "Still don't want to try it...but I'll make an exception for you."
You smiled and pulled Kayce closer by his shirt.
"Thank you," You smiled.
Kayce pressed his lips to yours.
