Request - Can you do one where the reader is in a car accident (not a bad one) and Kayce comes up and is all defensive and protective of her?
"Thanks," You smiled at the guy who rear-ended you.
"No problem," The guy said. "Let me call my insurance and then I'll get yours."
"Sounds good," You nodded.
You were off the highway, into some pasture as you waited. Traffic had been terrible today getting out of town and suddenly it came to a halt. You missed the truck in front of you, but the guy behind you wasn't so lucky. Your bumper was crunched and would need to be replaced, but thankfully your SUV had protected you from anything other than jumpy nerves.
Your eyes glanced down the road and saw lights flashing. You frowned, thinking some officer was going to stop now even though you hadn't called. As the truck got closer though you raised your eyebrow. You knew that truck.
"Come on," You mumbled as Kayce's truck pulled off the road, his engine revving as he stopped a little too close to the other guy's truck.
The guy looked confused as he was still on the phone. Kayce got out of his truck, the glare on his face as large as the field you were in. Kayce eyed the guy as he walked over to where you were.
"How did you even know?" You asked him.
"Are you alright?" Kayce ignored you.
"Kayce," You sighed as he held both your arms.
He looked over your whole body and you had to physically stop your eyes from rolling back.
"Kayce," You said as he turned you from side to side.
Did you hit your head?" He asked you.
"No, Kayce," You tried again.
"How many fingers?" He held up three fingers in front of your face.
"Kayce!" You grabbed his fingers and pulled him closer to you. "I'm fine."
"Ma'am?" The guy asked you. "Do you have"
"Back the fuck off," Kayce snarled at him. "I'll talk to you in a second."
The guy backed away immediately. You knew he was from out of state, his license plate showing Kansas. Plus, Kayce could be slightly intimidating to anyone.
"Hey," You said softly, holding Kayce's jacket in both your hands.
He looked over at you.
"I'm okay," You told him again. "Really...it was just a fender bender."
"Cause you were paying attention," Kayce looked at the guy again.
"Stop it," You said. "It was an accident."
"Got your paperwork?" Kayce asked.
"Y-Yes sir," The guy held out his papers.
Kayce snatched them from his hands and looked over them. You smiled apologetically at the guy and walked around Kayce.
"I'll call my insurance and let them know," You said. "Do you need anything else?"
"To learn how to fucking drive." You heard Kayce mutter.
"Sorry," You sighed at the guy.
"No, I'm sorry," He smiled apologetically at you.
"Take care," You nodded and watched as he got into his truck and drove off.
You turned and looked at Kayce.
"What?" He asked you.
"You know what," You sighed and pulled the paper from his hand.
"I don't, so what?" Kayce asked you.
"What was that?" You held up both your hands.
"What are you talking about?" Kayce asked.
"You went all...I don't know, caveman out here!" You laughed.
"Caveman?" Kayce asked.
"Or something," You shook your head. "Thought you were gonna take a swing at him."
"Would have done him some good," Kayce muttered.
You sighed, smiling at Kayce. Stepping over to him, you wrapped your arms around his neck. Kayce kept his hands on his hips though as he looked down at you.
"Thanks for caring about me," You told him.
"Mmm," Kayce grunted.
"I mean it," You leaned up and pressed a long kiss to his jawline. "I appreciate you caring."
"Got a funny way of showing it," Kayce said but you saw the hint of a smile on his lips.
"Thank you," You pressed a kiss to his cheek, rising on your toes fully and pressing another kiss to his ear as you hugged him close to you.
You felt Kayce wrap his arms around your body as he pulled you flush against him. His lips brushed against your temple as you felt him finally relax while he held you. Your heels touched back down on the dirt.
"Better?" You asked him.
"No," Kayce sighed and leaned back to look at you. "But I don't wanna shoot someone anymore."
"Well, that's a start," You giggled and leaned up to kiss the side of his lips. "How about now?"
"Almost," Kayce smirked at you.
You rolled your eyes but kissed him fully. Pulling back you saw a bright smile on his face now.
"You're so full of it," You rolled your eyes.
"Are you seriously okay?" Kayce asked you, his grip on your hips now.
"I am," You nodded. "Promise."
"Alright," Kayce sighed. "I'll get you a ranch truck while your car is in the shop."
"Thanks, baby," You kissed him again sweetly.
"Come on," Kayce wrapped his arm around your shoulders and steered you toward his truck. "I'll get one of the guys to come get your car."
You leaned into his side as you both walked over and Kayce opened your door for you. You got in as he shut it and walked around. You smiled, thankful for Kayce and his caring ways. Even though they were a bit aggressive at times.
