Request - Can I request one where Kayce and YN have been dating for over a year and he calls her Daisy because he remembers when they first met, he was out riding and he finds her in a flower bed in a field and when he asks her what she is doing, he finds a Daisy in her hair and he finds it adorable (it can be behind her ear as if she put it there or one got caught in her hair, you choose how it goes). Plus daisies are her favorite flower.
You could hear them before you saw them.
Holding your hand above your eyes, you watched the group of wranglers ride around the open bend in the pastures. A smile spread across your lips as your eyes located your favorite cowboy. Kayce was up front, toward the left side, his favorite place to ride. He looked like a teenager, with his broad smile as he raced his brothers around him.
"It's about time," Beth came up next to you.
"Come on," You laughed. "Isn't it worth seeing 'em like that?"
"I'm hungry," Beth shrugged. "And they're filthy...they haven't bathed in three days...you know that right?"
"But look at their faces," You smiled. "For this moment everyone's happy...well, almost everyone."
You looked over at her. Beth rolled her eyes and nudged your shoulder with her before walking away. You looked back at the group and saw they were all dismounting over near the fencing. John Dutton had called for a small cookout this Saturday. A few neighbors and the ranch hands were all invited along with Travis and his crew. You also didn't miss the Governor who was trying to be subtle.
The group had left early Wednesday morning to go drive the cattle down a few pastures. The herd would stay there for another month before it was time to ship them out. Your eyes looked around as you walked through the group. Your conversation with Beth made you lose your cowboy. Suddenly, strong arms wrapped around your waist from behind and lifted you up slightly. You giggled, holding onto your summer dress so you didn't put on a show for everyone laughing at the two of you.
Kayce sat you down and you turned in his arms. Sure, he was a little dirty from the ride back...maybe a little sweaty too, but with the clear blue sky behind him and his golden eyes bright, you felt yourself fall in love with him all over again. Wrapping your arms around his neck you pulled him closer to you.
"Hey, cowboy," You smiled.
"Hey, Daisy," Kayce leaned his lips and kissed you.
You pulled back and wrapped your arm around Kayce while his laid across your shoulders. They two of you startedto make your way over ot the food along with the crowd. Jimmy walked up next to you.
"Hey, Jimmy," You smiled at him.
"Hey...Y/N right?" Jimmy said timidly.
"What?" You tilted your heard. "Yeah?"
"Well, it's just..." Jimmy stuttered. "K-Kayce...he called you Daisy."
"Oh," You laughed. "Yeah, he calls me that sometimes."
"But you're not...Daisy?" Jimmy checked.
"Nope," You shook your head as Kayce led you over to the line.
You moved to stand in front of Kayce, feeling the warmth from his chest against your back as you waited your turn. Kayce gently pressed his lips to your temple, and you shut your eyes briefly.
Flashback
"Hey!"
You opened your eyes and saw the clouds above you. Raising an eyebrow, you sat up and looked around. Nothing in front, to your right, or left...so that must mean...
"Ma'am?"
You turned around and saw a guy on a horse a few feet behind you. His dark cowboy hat hide some of his features, but you didn't miss how he made your heart skip a beat. Slowly, you stood up in the flower bed you had been laying in. The guy made his horse walk up to where you were and he looked down at you.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
"Sure," You shrugged. "Why?"
"You uh..." The guy looked around. "Were lying in the dirt by yourself."
"It's not dirt," You pointed to the bed where hundreds of daisies were covering it. "It's daisies...they're all over these fields."
"And you," The guy nodded his head.
You reached up and touched your hair, seeing a few daisies fall out. You smiled and looked up at the cowboy.
"Guess so," You said. "I was just...relaxing."
"Alright," He smiled at you. "Just wanted to make sure."
"That I wasn't a damsel in need of saving?" You joked with him.
"Maybe," He said and walked his horse even closer.
You stood still as he reached down and pulled a daisy from your hair, holding it out for you between his finger and thumb. You felt your cheek warm as you took the flower and looked up at him. He winked before leading his horse back the way he had come.
End Flashback
You felt a slightly pinch at your side and jerked away from Kayce.
"What?" He smirked. "I'm hungry and you're blocking the line."
You rolled your eyes and stepped forward. Kayce and you walked away from the group, back over to sit under a tree and eat your lunch. He told you about the past few days and what all they did while you finished your meal. The two of you ended up relaxing, you against the tree and Kayce's head on your lap as you took in the land around you. You were running your fingers slowly through his hair.
You looked down and next to Kayce was a small daisy flower growing. You smiled, stopping your actions and picking it from the ground. Kayce's eyes opened with the lack of your touch and watched you place the flower in his hair behind his ear.
"You're something," He mumbled.
"They're my favorite," You smiled, your hand resting against his chest. "You're my favorite."
"You're mine," Kayce nodded, his eyes closing again.
You leaned against the tree and smiled.
