Request - What if Y/N and him get back together after a break, shortly before Christmas and he's just so happy to be back together that he can't keep his hands off of Y/N like lots of cute PDA? :)
So maybe they to see Christmas lights together and play board games with the family?
You would be lying if you said you weren't a little bit nervous.
Kayce was going to be at your place here any minute. Again, you looked in the mirror in your hallway. Not much had changed in you since the two of you decided to take a break about three months ago. You had been pushed to a breaking point and seeing Kayce in a hospital room with a bullet hole in his shoulder was the final straw.
It wasn't even his job as Livestock Commissioner. It was Kayce being John Dutton's son that led Kayce to being shot while trying to protect the ranch. You remember that day vividly, crying while you told Kayce you couldn't do this anymore.
Kayce had begged you, his eyes moist with tears while he tried to reach for you where he was in the bed. You had walked out and for three weeks ignored every one of his calls and texts. You had ignored his family's messages as well, until a month later, they all seemed to stop.
Two weeks ago you had run into Kayce at a diner. You had finished up supper with your sister when he walked in with Tate. The little boy immediately runs to you and hugs you tight. He had been a part of your life just as Kayce had.
You had felt all the emotions boil over when you hugged Tate back. Tears fell from your eyes as you rocked him side to side. The little boy didn't understand, but what surprised you the most was hearing how Kayce hadn't told Tate anything negative about you. He had told his son you needed some space and time. You needed a break from the misery Kayce had brought to you daily.
Regret had filled your heart hearing Kayce tell you that. His eyes were better looking then, clearer...but he was sad. You could tell Kayce was upset. When his hand brushed yours as you said goodbye you felt electricity run through your arms. Kayce must have too, because he looked back at you and the two of you stared for a long time before your sister pulled you away.
A week ago, Kayce had called you out of the blue. It was late at night and he was driving back in from Darby. There wasn't a point to his call except he told you he missed you. The two of you talked for the two hours it took him to get back home. It was that night you told Kayce you missed him too.
It was that night you told him you'd try a relationship with him again.
Now, it was the week before Christmas, and Kayce had invited you for the weekend out to the ranch. You were nervous as you double-checked your bag. The sound of a diesel truck made you look out the window to see Kayce walking up your walkway. He rang the doorbell and you counted to five before you opened it.
"Hey," Kayce's smile was bright as he glanced up and down at you.
You hated how you already felt your cheeks warm.
"Hey," You smiled back at him.
"You ready?" Kayce asked you thought he looked like a kid.
"I am," You reached down for your bag but Kayce beat you to it, lifting it up and over his shoulder. "I didn't really know what we were doing so I packed a little of everything."
"We're doing whatever you wanna do," Kayce stepped aside as you locked your front door. "Just wanted a weekend with you."
"And because you don't get Tate until Christmas Eve?" You smirked. "And I know your siblings are in town probably."
