You had taken over your family's bakery on the outskirts of town about a year ago. Which meant you had gone through your year of "firsts" and had survived. Your mother passed away from cancer a little before you moved back, and your father left when you were little. Your mother and aunt had opened a bakery and it had become a staple to the west side of Montana for almost two decades now.

And now it was yours.

You employed about seven people in your operations and things were good. Income was solid and it was about the holiday season, you were feeling good about things. Well, all things professionally speaking. On your personal side, things were non-existent. There was little time since you had to be at the bakery by seven and work until the doors closed at six. Thankfully, you could close shop on Sundays and Mondays, but that's when you did all your other "chores."

"Hey, Y/N?"

You looked up from your paperwork at your cashier, Mandy.

"Hey," You smiled. "Everything okay?"

"There's some guy here saying he had an order for pies, but I can't find it anywhere," Mandy looked like she was about to cry.

"I don't remember pies either," You stood up.

"I looked, but nothing," Mandy stepped aside as you walked out.

The guy in question was a tall cowboy with dirty blonde hair sticking out of his hat. His soft, warm eyes looked over at you when you walked around the counter to where he was waiting.

"Hi, I'm Y/N," You smiled politely. "You said you had an order for pies?"

"Uh...yes, ma'am," He nodded, reaching up to remove his hat. "Needed four of 'em."

"Alright," You looked over your shoulder at what was inside the counter. "What was the order again?"

"Two apples and two pumpkins," He said.

"Well, we have two pumpkins but only one apple," You offered him an apologetic smile. "Can I interest you in a blueberry and lemon pie instead?"

"Uh, they ain't really for me..." He shifted on his feet. "I'm just picking them up."

"I promise you the blueberry lemon is good," You pushed a little. "I make it...it's really good, I promise...It's my favorite."

"Your favorite?" The guy asked.

"Yeah," You glanced at Mandy who was pulling a piece of it out, already reading your mind. "Try and bite and see if whoever you're picking these up for would like it."

You took the plate and fork from Mandy and handed them to the cowboy. You watched him look at you before taking a bite. He stopped chewing as his eyes looked back to yours.
