Request - Reader is in trouble and she yells for rip Kayce makes sure she's okay and walks away jealous that she yell for rip and they get into a fight " well I know rip can take care of himself " she yells " I can take care of myself I was in the navy " Kayce yells " I care about you I don't give a shit about him " or something like that.

You weren't sure what exactly had happened. All you knew was one second you were working along the far side of the pen, helping herd the cows into the trucks to take them off for sale, and the next second you were about to be trampled.

The cows got spooked by the other side, consisting of Kayce, Teeter, Colby, Jimmy, and Lloyd. Your side consisted of yourself, Rip, Ryan, Jake, and Walker. The morning had gone by relatively fast, loading up about three truckloads and you all only had three more to go.

But you remember trying to step out of the way once you felt the cows closing in on you. You weren't fast enough though, and you stepped off to the side, rolling your ankle. Thankfully you glanced to your left and saw Rip see you.

"Rip!" You called out before you went under, disappearing beneath the heard moving toward the ramp into the truck.

You felt a cow step on your foot, thankfully your boots helped protect you somewhat. Right before you saw another leg come down, someone yanked you back and up. You were shoved against the fence and heard a lot of yelling around you.

You looked over your shoulder and saw Rip holding you between him and the fence as the rest of the cows were herded up and into the truck.

"Y/N?" Kayce's voice pulled you to look to your other side.

His eyes were wild as he looked you over. You felt Rip loosen his hold on you as Kayce took over, scanning your body.

"Are you okay?" Kayce asked.

"I-I think so?" You took a deep breath, feeling your heart beat out of your chest. "I d-don't know what happened."

"You slide under the heard because that side didn't hold their line," Rip muttered.

"Shut the fuck up," Kayce snapped.

You were shocked at Kayce's outburst toward Rip. It was then you could feel the tension in his hands holding you. The veins in his neck were prominent as his eyes glared at Rip.

"Hey?" You asked softly, Kayce's eyes finding yours. "I'm okay."

"Fine," Kayce dropped his hold on you and you immediately missed him.

Your eyes followed him as he walked away, out of the pen and over to where his truck was. You looked back at Rip who was shaking his head at Kayce, a smirk on his lips.

"What?" You asked him.

"Oh, nothing..." Rip shrugged. "Glad you're not hurt."

Rip walked away from you, shouting that everyone was going to take a five-minute water break. You decided to go see what was up your boyfriend's ass. Kayce eyed you while he chugged back some water. You crossed your arms as you stood next to him near his truck.

"What was that?" You asked him.

"Nothing," Kayce tossed his water canteen back into his truck.

"You about bit Rip's head off," You pointed out. "Doesn't seem like nothing."

"Why'd you call out for him?" Kayce asked.

"What?" You were confused.

"When you were falling...you called out for Rip," Kayce was staring at you intently.

"I did?" You asked and Kayce nodded. "Well...he was next to me, so I guess he's who I saw? And I know he can take care of himself in a dangerous situation like that."

"I was in the Navy," Kayce argued. "you think I can't take care of myself? Or you at the same time?"

"You're being a little ridiculous," You crossed your arms.

"And if I called out to Teeter when you were standing near me?" Kayce asked. "You wouldn't find that weird?"

"Not if she was closer and could help you," You were trying to figure out the root of Kayce's issue here.

Rip was closer to you, why would it matter if...oh.

"Kayce," You lowered your arms.

"I just think it's weird you'd call for him and not me," Kayce muttered, leaning against his truck.

"Because he could have just as easily been trampled with me," You stepped closer to him. "And because I care about what happens to you...I don't give a shit what happens to him."

Kayce looked over at you.

"I mean...I care, but not like I care about you," You tried again and smiled.

"You sure?" Kayce asked, but you could see his face relaxing.

"Yes," You leaned up and pressed a kiss to his cheek. "But thank you for being concerned."

There was a whistle signaling time to get back to work. You looked over and saw Rip watching the two of you, waiting on you. You took a step, but Kayce grabbed your arm, swinging you around and kissing you deeply.

When he let go you were a little dazed as he walked back over to the pens. You blinked a few times before shaking your head and following him, ignoring the wolf calls from the wranglers and the snickering from Rip.
