You sat in Kayce's truck, the two of you staring at the cabin in front of you. The rain was pouring down now and there was no way to get to your Aunt's cabin now without getting completely soaked. You watched Kayce turn his truck off and look over at you.
"Well?" He asked.
"I'm not going out in that," You nodded to the rain.
"C'mon," Kayce took his hat off and placed it on your head.
He opened his door and you watched him run up to the small front porch and looked back at you. He was wet, but it wasn't terrible. You sighed, holding his hat on your head as you opened the door. You winced at the cold water hitting you as you ran up to stand next to Kayce. You fiddled with the lock until it opened and the two of you pushed your way inside.
"Shit," Kayce said as he shut the door behind you. "Water's freezing."
You shivered as you turned on the hallway light.
"This way," You walked down and into the living room. "I can start a fire."
"I'll do it," Kayce walked around you.
You watched him place some of the logs you had piled next to it as he kneeled down. Soon, there was a small, but warming fire going. Kayce looked over his shoulder at you, a proud smirk on his face.
"Thanks," You smiled. "Do you want something to drink?"
"I'm okay," Kayce moved so he was sitting on your leather loveseat.
You sat your bag down and slowly walked around until you were standing in front of him. Reaching up you removed his hat, running your fingers through your damp hair. Kayce's eyes followed your hand as you let it fall back to your side. The rain hitting the window echoed throughout the small room.
"I um..." You felt nervous. "Honestly, I don't usually do this."
"Do what?" Kayce asked you curiously.
"Take men home after an afternoon coffee date," You laughed at how ridiculous you sounded.
"Can't say I do that either," Kayce smirked.
You looked down at your fingers fiddling with his hat. It was worn, letting you know just how much he wore it. But you also knew there was history there as well. Kayce stood up in front of you, making you tilt your head up slightly to look at him.
He gently took his hat from you, tossing it off to the side. You stayed still as Kayce reached up and held your face in his hands. They were warm but rough against your soft skin. His thumbs traced lines across your cheeks.
"M'not like this usually either," Kayce mumbled.
"What do you mean?" You felt your head getting hazy as his caramel eyes looked into yours. "Like this?"
"I don't usually go home with pretty girls," Kayce said.
You breathed out hard.
"Do you go home with ugly ones?" You tried to give yourself some time to not completely go numb.
Kayce laughed, leaning his lips down to where they almost touched yours.
"There was just somethin' about you," He mumbled. "I can't figure it out."
"Maybe don't?" You swallowed. "Maybe we could...just..."
"Yeah?" Kayce stepped closer so you were flushed against his front.
You nodded your head up and down as Kayce's lips pressed against yours.
It was then your mind went numb. Your hands held onto Kayce's sides as you kissed him back. He moved his arms around you, holding you as he kissed you deeply. His stubble tickled your lips as you breathed him in.
