Request - What if they get back together and he invites Y/N out for a movie that Y/N has been excited for? During the movie, he gives her his sweater holds her and is super sweet.

Author's Note - so I would never picture Kayce having a sweater, even though it's adorable! So I hope his jacket will suffice for you :)

"I guess we really are doing this?" You said with a playful smirk on your lips after opening your apartment door and seeing Kayce standing there.

"Surprised?" Kayce asked, his own lips turn up in a smile.

"A little bit, if I'm being honest," You shrugged but grabbed your bag and keys.

Kayce stepped back as you turned around the locked your door. The two of you going on your first date...second, first date, you corrected yourself internally. You and Kayce had dated for a little over a year and then ended things about three months ago. When you had bumped into him one night at a bar, you knew the two of you would get back together.

You drank way too much that night, and seeing Kayce there made you nervous. His cheeks were flushed as he asked you to dance. The song hadn't even ended and you were back in his truck, letting him take you home. While that night had settled an itch you bot had for a while, it wasn't how you fixed the problems from the first time you two were together. You needed more of a relationship with Kayce, more communication, more time, etc. In the first round, you mostly saw Kayce in bed and while it was nice, that wasn't a relationship. He had promised you, this time would be different...so you gave him a chance.

Tonight was one of those things Kayce had promised you, an actual relationship thing - a date.

"How was your day?" Kayce asked as you both got into his truck and he pulled out of the parking lot.

"It was alright," You nodded. "I'm glad it's Friday though...how was yours?"

"Fine," Kayce nodded. "Missed you."

You felt your cheeks warm as you smiled at his profile. That was another thing he had worked on, being more open with you on how he was feeling, good and bad. Kayce was a Livestock Agent for the state, something his father put him up to. You were an elementary school teacher. You hadn't seen Kayce since Tuesday this week due to both of your work schedules, but you had spoken on the phone. It was a good twenty minutes from Kayce's office to his ranch...and he usually called you on his way home every day.

"Missed you," You said softly. "Thanks for taking me tonight. I know you're tired."

"I'm fine, baby," Kayce reached over and squeezed your knee.

He pulled into the movie parking lot. There was a new western film playing and you had been waiting for it since the trailer dropped six months ago. You got out and hurried inside, not expecting it to be as cold as it was since it was only September. Kayce followed you in and stood next to you as you punched in your ticket information.

"Hungry?" Kayce asked as the two of you walked on.

"Sure," You stood in the food line and once you got up, ordered for the two of you. "Two drinks, a large popcorn, and the Sweet Tart Ropes, please."

After paying and checking into the ticket counter to head inside the theatre, you picked out two seats and sat down. Kayce took off his jacket and settled back in his chair. You handed him his drink and popcorn as you opened the Ropes. It was an older theatre, so no reclining seats or legroom, but there were only two other couples in the place besides y'all.

You watched Kayce take a handful of popcorn as his eyes looked across the large screen's advertisements. You smiled, thankful to be trying this again with him. He must have sensed you because his eyes looked over at you.
