Request - Hi, it's my birthday today! I don't have too much to this idea and I don't remember if you made one for a birthday, but was just wondering if you could do something just super sweet and lovey, and Kayce just makes the birthday super special and you can add in whenever you like. Thank you:)
OMG - Happiest of Birthdays! I know I'm late but I hope it was a wonderful day :)
You pulled the door to your classroom shut and sighed out loud. Finally, the day was done. You were in your fifth year as a fourth-grade teacher and while you loved most days, today was not one of those days.
You had a kid get sick about ten minutes into class, broke up a fight around the lunch hour, had a kid spill his red drink over your jeans, and just finished getting some gum out of a little girl's hair before her mother came to get her. All of this and it was your birthday.
You weren't too big on your birthday, but you were turning twenty-seven. You didn't mind working on your birthday at all, but all the things that happened to you today made you question whether or not you should have called in sick and spent the day on your couch instead. A buzzing in your back pocket made you stop and reach for your phone, seeing your boyfriend's name on the screen.
You smiled for the first time that day.
"Hey, Kayce," You said.
"Happy Birthday, baby," Kayce's warm voice was like honey and it soothed almost all of your irritation away for the moment.
"Thank you," You smiled. "I needed that."
"Rough day?" Kayce joked.
"Just a lot of little things," You said as you made your way outside the school and across the parking lot to your car. "How was your day?"
"Fine," Kayce said. "Missed you...are you headed my way?"
"I am," You threw your bag into the backseat before getting in behind the wheel. "In my car now."
"Good," Kayce said. "Drie safe and I'll see you when you get here."
"Am I coming to the lodge?" You asked, starting your car.
"Foreman's cabin," Kayce said.
"Okay, see you there," You smiled.
You had a soft spot for Kayce's family, even if half the State of Montana didn't, but right now all you wanted to see was Kayce. You didn't want to put on a smile or act like everything was perfect. You wanted to run into his arm and make him hold you by the fire.
You pulled up to the cabin after a while and got out, seeing your breath now in the porch lights. Pinks, yellows, and oranges scattered over the navy blue skies as you walked up the steps. Before you could knock, the door opened to Kayce standing there.
"Hey," He smiled at you.
You didn't respond but stepped into his arms and wrapped yours around his waist. Kayce kept one hand on the doorframe but wrapped his other around you tightly. You could feel his lips press against the side of your head as you took in a deep breath. In doing so, you smelled something wonderful inside the cabin. Pulling back you looked up at Kayce.
"Did you cook?" You asked him.
"I did," Kayce nodded, pulling you into the cabin so he could shut out the cold air. "Don't act all surprised."
"You never cook," You unwrapped your scarf with a joking smile.
"I do for people I love," Kayce waited until you shrugged your coat off before he hung it up next to his by the door.
