Request - I was wondering if you could write an imagine about how the reader has trauma from her childhood and still sleeps with a stuffed animal and/ or a baby blanket? She is like taking a nap and someone sees her and makes fun of her for something and Kayce comforts her.

"Hey...Y/N...Hey!"

You felt something hit your face gently. Blinking your eyes open, you looked over at Teeter who was sitting on her cot, putting her boots on.

"Sorry," You mumbled, sitting up and rubbing your face.

"Just didn't want you to miss breakfast," Tetter stood up.

"Thanks." You smiled at her as she left the tent.

It had been a week up at Cowboy Camp and you have loved every minute of it. Driving cattle, riding horses, swimming in the river, eating by the campfire every night, and looking at the stars...it was all magical. You stood up and changed quickly, sitting back on the cot and pulling your boots on. You turned over and pulled your blankets up and over your cot, your small bear catching your eye.

It was originally a white bear your dad had given you when you were seven. So you named it Lucky, for obvious reasons. You hadn't slept without him since then. Sure, you were now in your twenties, but the small bear reminded you of your home and your dad.

Walking out into the sunlight you squinted. Placing your hand over your eyes, you saw that the Duttons had arrived. John was already barking orders to Rip while Jamie and Kayce sat up on their horses still. Your eyes caught Kayce's stare.

The youngest Dutton and you had an interesting friendship. It started out at a bar one night when everyone went into town to blow off steam. You drank a few too many beers and Kayce carried you to the foreman's cabin that night. You woke up in his bed, Kayce having slept on the couch.

After that, Kayce seems to be working with you more and more. He would pick you up for errands in town, or you would always be on his crew during rides. Then, a few weeks later, you all were drinking beers around a campfire. Poor Jimmy was asking about the proper way to hold a woman when he was kissing her.

There were jokes and taunting until Kayce finally had enough. He grabbed you, holding the back of your head, and kissed you. When he pulled back, Kayce glared at Jimmy and said, "That's how you do it."

One kiss turned into another one while you went riding with Kayce the next morning. That kiss turned into another one later that evening. Soon, the two of you became like teenagers, making out whenever you could.

You knew Kayce had been married and it ended terribly. He had a son he saw on occasion, and while his demeanor was rough...the Kayce who was alone with you was incredibly kind and thoughtful. You liked him a lot.

"Hey, Y/N?" Colby walked up to you. "You got any more of that pain cream?"

"Uh yeah," You nodded. "It's in my blue bag."

"Thanks, I owe you," Colby nodded, walking into your tent.

Kayce had walked up to where you were now. He had on a small smile as he looked you up and down.

"Good morning," You smiled at him.

"Morning," Kayce nodded.

"What time did y'all leave?" You asked.

"Too fucking early," Kayce muttered, making you giggle.

Your laughter made Kayce's smile grow though. He opened his mouth to say something else but Colby beat him to it.

"Y/N?"

You looked behind you and saw Colby holding your bear in his hand. You felt the blood drain from your face as you saw the animal in his hand.

"This yours?" Colby smirked. "You got a...teddy bear?"

"What?" Ryan asked, walking up. "What's that?"

"Nothing!" You snapped.

"Y/N's got a little teddy bear," Colbg snickered.

"Fuck off," You frowned and tried to grab the bear.

"Ain't you like thirty?" Ryan chuckled.

"Fuck you too," You tried to grab the bear again but Colby was taller than you. "Come on!"

"He's old," Colby looked at the bear.

"Does he keep the nightmares away?" Ryan joked.

"Guys-"

"Give her the fucking bear."

The guys stopped and all of you looked at Kayce. His eyes narrowed on Colby who immediately handed the bear to you.

"Sorry, Kayce," Colby muttered.

You held the bear to your chest.

"Sorry, Y/N," Ryan gave you a sad smile.

The two of them walked off, Kayce's glare burning holes in the back of their heads. You sighed, looking at your bear and rubbing your hand over him. Your eyes slowly looked back over to Kayce who was now watching you.

"I've had him since I was-"

"You don't have to justify it," Kayce shook his head.

You blinked back in surprise. It was quiet between the two of you for a few moments. Clearing your throat, you gave Kayce a small smile.

"My dad gave him to me," You said softly.

Kayce nodded his head.

Turning around, you quickly walked back into your tent and sat the bear on your cot. Walking back out you saw Kayce still waiting for you.

"Bet all the coffee is gone by now," You said as the two of you started to walk toward Gator's chuck wagon.

"There's always coffee," Kayce said.

"Maybe for you," You joked.

Kayce surprised you again, placing his hand on the small of your back as you came to a stop next to the wagon. Looking forward you saw Gator holding out two mugs to the tow of you.

"Thanks," You said softly, taking your mug.

You turned toward Kayce and took a sip, letting the warm liquid seep into your bones. Sighing contently, you saw Kayce staring at you.

"What?" You asked him.

"Can you sleep without it?" Kayce asked, but there wasn't any teasing in his voice.

"Uh...I don't know," You shrugged. "I always have."

Kayce nodded slowly as he took a sip of his coffee. His caramel eyes looked up and down your body and you felt your cheeks warm up slightly. You watched Kayce glance at where the wranglers were putting together his tent for later.

"Well," Kayce smirked back at you. "Let's test it tonight."

"You're gonna take him away from me?" You narrowed your eyes.

"No," Kayce leaned in and kissed your cheek. "You'll come sleep with me instead."

Kayce walked off, leaving you standing with your mouth open.
