Hi Alex,

It's me, the girl that was left out...On a different problem though. :(

So...currently I am failing my parents's expectations. I am in the top group for everything but they still don't care and want me to become the best.

I am hating it :'( Please give some advice on how to tell them that I'm sick and tired of it

Dear E,

Hey hun, I hope my last advice worked out for you? Now, for this one... Well I think that parents are sometimes too much and it can get overwhelming sometimes and there is either two ways to go about it. You either suck it up and do as your told or you do your best and forget about trying to please others and do your best for you. I personally like the second option. Everyone will have expectations for you including parents but I feel as if that whether or not they have expectations I feel like you should have expectations for your own self. I think that they do care and I do think that they are proud of you but parents are always going to want more and sometimes you just can't please their need. But that's okay because even parents have to realize that their child isn't perfect.

If you need or want to tell them that your sick and tired of it then say it respectfully and be patient with them. Say something along the lines of: Mom, dad. Can I talk to you for a bit.

Then when you have their attention say something like this: I know you want the best for me. And just hear me on this... I feel like you expect too much from me and I understand why but at the same time I'm exhausted of feeling like I have to do too much to please you full heartily.

Speak your feelings out and you will feel better. The worst case scenario is they don't listen to you at all. If this happens don't take offence to it. Sometimes parents can be a little on the stubborn side. Brush it off and just keep living for you and no one else.

The best case scenario is that they do listen to you and show that they do care and support you and everything wonderful like that.

Either way don't get discouraged that your parents don't see all the effort you put into everything you do. Because in the end hard work pays off and even if your parents aren't pleased then a lot of other people will be impressed.

I hope for the best for you.

           Alex <3
