However, Helios was taking his time assessing his situation. In fact, half an hour had passed, he had not yet thought of a plan how to free himself and get out of his predicament.
Unexpectedly, the rapids began to become brutal. The vine cocoon that he was riding on began to shake and he started to feel dizzy. He began to vomit due to the motion sickness. It seemed like he was coughing out his guts. Well, that how Helios felt. His eyes watered and he felt that his head was whirling twice as much.
In his weakened state, he suddenly heard the river burbled.
"OH MY ...!" The prince of the Phoenix clan eyes bulged in horror.
Helios saw that he was fast heading down the waterfall. He began to panic and moved franticly.
"Helios, relax." He began to say to himself. "Think ... think ...!"
He looked back and then sideways. There was nothing he could find that could help him out of his situation. Then, he looked up and saw a tree branch ahead. Careful, he moved to stand on the vine cocoon trying his hardest not to tip it over.
At first try, he knees wobbled and he fell on his bum in the vine cocoon. He, then, tried again but he lost his balance before he could even get up and the vine cocoon almost capsized.
"Helios, you can do this." He said out loud. "Come on, you are a prince, you can do this."
He carefully got up from the vine cocoon and this time he succeeded. He was standing on his two feet and was trying to balance himself.
The noise of the water falling down the cliff as it crushed against the rocks was getting intense. He knew then that he was nearing the edge.
