"Actually, none of you were in real danger." Oisin said. "You were here all the time."
"But ... we ... I ..." Helios incoherently try to find the right words to say what he wanted to say.
"All of you never left this very room." The High General of Forest clan affirmed. "What you all experienced were just a hallucination. Your mind tricked you into believing that you were in a life or death situation. I stirred it a bit."
"But, why did you subject us in such cruelty to begin with and how?"
"I know why." The child king of the Aeolian clan answered. "The High General of the Forest clan tricked us into believing that we will start our training today. That is partially true. However, before he can do that, he needed to know what we can do without our powers. Am I right, High General?"
"His Majesty is correct." Oisin replied. "Before I can train you, I need to know how you will all respond to certain situation. There is nothing cruel about what I did, and I will not apologize for it. We are in a battle. I need to do whatever it takes to ensure that you are all ready when it comes."
Oisin paused as he pulled out fungi out of his pocket and showed it to his companions.
"A mushroom?" Addy was confused.
"Yes, a type of mushroom. This is called psilocybe semilanceata. It has hallucinogenic properties that can alter the brain's perception. I found this yesterday in the forest while I was gathering food. And, earlier today, I dried and grounded them and placed it in the water."
"Were you controlling our visions earlier?" North asked.
"No. Not in entirely. Do you see the vines on the floor?" Oisin said.
Indeed, there were vines on the floor laid out like some mattress which the boys were laying on during their hallucinogenic journey.
"These vines helped me see what you were seeing during your hallucinogenic quest. I only ensure that you cannot use powers for the whole duration of exercise."
