I'm so sick of fanfics getting a bad rep.
Like, not everything is smut and swear-happy.
There are some incredibly well-written, sweet, funny, sad, adorable fanfics out there.
Whenever I see a video of a celebrity or youtuber or someone reading fanfic it's always some sex-ridden, inappropriate shit that makes me feel sick to listen to.
I mean, come on.
Fanfic writing has pretty much taken over my life. I don't write about the 5sos guys sticking their cock-a-doodles into some girl's donut, I write alternate universe storylines that actually have legitimate plot in them. You could take pretty much any one of my books and change a couple names in it, remove some swears, and it would be just like any other book that could be sold in a store. NOT EVERY FANFIC WRITER WRITES SMUT. Heck, a bunch of us are in our early/mid-teens. If we do write smut, then that's fine. We're people, we have imaginations. STOP SAYING ALL FANFICTION IS GROSS AND THAT YOU REFUSE TO READ IT. PEOPLE PUT LEGITIMATE EFFORT INTO IT. IT'S NOT LIKE EVERYONE GOES ONLINE AND DECIDES THEY'RE GOING TO WRITE A FANFIC AND START IT OUT WITH "LUKE SLID HIS BREADSTICK INTO MY SPAGHETTI BOWL" AND THAT'S IT. THERE ARE AMAZING WRITERS WHO CHOSE TO WRITE FANFIC BECAUSE IT'S THEIR FORTE. IT'S THEIR CHOICE, SO SHUT UP ABOUT ALL THIS "ALL FANFICS ARE DIRTY AF AND GROSS". I HAVE MADE SO MANY AMAZING FRIENDS THROUGH FANFIC WRITING, AND I DON'T WANT ANYONE TO PUSH ANYONE DOWN BECAUSE OF THEIR WRITING CHOICES. SO STOP TRYING TO SAY FANFICTION SHOULD STOP. THIS IS A WAY PEOPLE BOND. LOOK AT THE WRITERS OF THIS BOOK FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. I LOVE ALL OF THESE PEOPLE LIKE THEY'RE MY SIBLINGS (actually I hate my brothers so we're even closer than that) AND I'VE BARELY EVEN PERSONALLY SPOKEN WITH ANY OF THEM BUT WE'RE CLOSER THAN ALMOST ANY FAMILY.
Don't hate on fanfiction. It helps people in more ways than you know.
