"friend"

Okay, last rant for tonight.

From me, at least.

So my friend has this problem.

She's missed a ton of play rehearsals, so the director told her if she misses one more, she'll be cut from whatever scenes we work on when she isn't there.

The reason she's missed so many practices is because she's on the school basketball team.

Now, you might be saying "oh, it's okay for her to miss a couple games for the play".

But she's feeling incredibly conflicted.

Mostly because if the team wins their next game, they move on to the New England tournament thing.

Now here's the HUGE problem: this Saturday, she has play practice, this final basketball game, and All-State band (which she has already missed once and will be kicked out if she misses it again).

All at the same time.

So now her mom leaving the decision down to her.

Play, basketball, or band?

So as my friend was telling me all this at lunch today, she explained that everyone else she's gone to about this has been biased because they all want her to do whatever they're doing.

After she tells me this, I naturally feel guilty about wanting her to do the play practice.

See, I explained to her that she could call the All State band people and explain that she has a prior commitment, and that she can't make it this Saturday. As for basketball, she's said herself that she just keeps the benches nice and warm for everyone else (for some reason, that's her excuse for missing so many play practices for a basketball game). I understand that she wants to be there to support the team, I would, too, if I could, but it won't hurt them to have one less player. As for play, though, she has a decent role. She has a name, a couple lines, hell, she gets to scream at the top of her lungs during one of the songs! Our play is less than two weeks away. Skipping now is hurting everyone in the performance.

What do you guys think about it? What's your opinions?
