"hey can I ask you something before you try and sneak out? " my brother's (Jonah) voice rings from down the hallway and I sigh turning around to face him 

"yes?" i say giving him a tight lipped smile

"where were you going? without Sam" he asks 

"class" i say shrugging at him

"two hours early?" he says and i sigh deciding i can't be bothered to come up with a lie

"i wanted to go for breakfast and go over my reading before class is that a crime?" I say, our lives will forever be entangled with that word considering he is a notorious gang-lord 

"did you know this?" he asks to his right where my bodyguard (Sam) is and he nods, we all know that's not the case

"i did" he says sending a wink my way, even though my brother is his boss he'll always side with me

"uh huh" Jonah says walking over to me and planting a kiss on my forehead "i won't be here when you get back so I'll see you soon" he says and I give him a look

"how long will you be gone this time?" I ask and he shrugs as I lean in to give him a hug, the thing i hate most about what he does is when he leaves home, there's always a chance he won't come back.  He's all I got, i don't want to lose him.

"however long it takes, i'm leaving Max (his second) and Rhys (his head of security) here with you ok?" he says which makes my heart sink

"Rhys isn't going with you?" I ask pulling back so I can see his face, he looks down at me "Jo..." I say and he shakes his head

"just a precaution Y/n/n nothing to worry about" he says and i turn to Sam seeing if he'll give me anymore answers but he just shakes his head and I say

"only out the house for uni?" I ask and he nods in agreement and I sigh

"i'll be back soon" Jonah says pulling me for another hug before I pull away and open the door 

"come back in one piece please" I say not looking at him as i opening the door and walking outside to the car. Once we're moving I notice in the mirror there's another car behind us and before I could even say anything Sam speaks up

"it's Max and Rhys" and i sigh but can't help to notice the relief filling my lungs " middle seat" he says firmly, I roll my eyes and move. Another thing about me and my brother,  we never sit in the window seat in any vehicle.

"why won't he tell me what's going on?" i say and there was silence for a moment 

"he's trying to keep you out of that side of things, you also keep saying you don't wanna be involved" Sam says 

"i know" i say looking outside the window and there was silence again

"he's protecting you" and I nod

"i know" i say again. After a few moments and once we are at traffic lights, looking back at him through the mirror "He's left Max and Rhys.." I say and Sam looks at me through the mirror and doesn't say anything for a few seconds  

"precaution" is all he says and i sigh looking out the window

"well if this is my last glimpse of freedom till he gets back can we please go somewhere decent for breakfast?" I say and he nods 

"so I'm choosing?" Sam asks with a smile, making me smile

"you know the best places"

Sam picked this small cafe in Kensington which was close enough to the uni campus but far enough away were there wouldn't be any other students around so it would be quieter. The first hour i was going over my notes and making sure i still understood them, seeing if i wanted to change anything. Just making sure the information went in really. Sam, Rhys and Max were a few tables away and i would look up and wave at them just to annoy them. When I turned back my elbow hit some of the books of the table which made a loud thud, i quickly leant down and started to pick them up when i saw a hand pick up the last textbook
