Also this is my first time writing a full imagine for a girl so please be kind haha (kinda glad it's Katherine though haha)
When we all graduated from high school most of the gang stayed around mystic falls, but I knew I needed to get away for a while. So I applied for out of state universities and I got acceptance to Stanford University in California. I moved away to star knew hoping that mystic falls wouldn't follow, well, it did but not in the way you might expect.
One fall day during the first semester I entered some cafe to finish my notes from the days lecture when I noticed someone familiar sitting on the table. They way her hair fell behind her shoulders, the way she carried herself and the way she dressed I instantly recognised her
"Katherine?" I ask, she turned round and looks me up and down smirking
"y/n, it's been a while" she says standing up
"wh what're you doing in Palo Alto?" I ask
"bored, no one to terrorise, the salvatores haven't pissed me off enough to do anything" she says
"didn't take you to be a cali girl" I say and she smiles
"yeah well it is one of the only places I haven't been and seeing as people think I am dead I thought this would be a good call. Din't realise you would be here, but at least it is you and not one of your other friends. I like you" she says and I smile and laugh slightly unsure of what to say. I always had a soft spot for Katherine I don't know why. I knew she was a horrible person and she has done awful things but I mean, LOOK AT HER.

"yeah I um go to Stanford so" I say and she smiles
"do you want a coffee?" she asks and I sy
"I came here to work i don't know" she walks up to me with her arms crossed
"come on it's one tiny drink, I don't bite" she says smirking and i look at her
"ok" I say.
That one cup of coffee turned into a year long relationship an amazing one at that.
