The Halloween ball was getting closer and closer, preparations were in full swing, and the anticipation among the employees was growing. Well, one member of staff had been keeping a close eye on the bride-to-be, who will be getting married at the ball.
Over the days, Siobhan had become more and more suspicious in Sorscha's eyes. A theory had formed in the Irishwoman's mind, and it was time she shared it with someone. Clodagh hummed quietly to herself. She just had time for herself. Quinn was taking a nap, and Sorscha wasn't home yet. So, she used the time to clean the kitchen counter. While the water boiled for her tea.
But to her surprise, her wife came home early. "Hey Babe!" her voice rang out from the corridor. "In the kitchen!" she replied.
Sorscha entered the room, stepped up to her wife, and hugged her from behind. Clodagh let herself fall into the embrace. " Did you have a nice day, Darling?" - " The usual madness."
As Quinn was still asleep, the two women settled down in the lounge with a cup of tea. Clodagh could literally see the gears working in Sorscha's head. Something seemed to be bothering her.
"Darling, do you have something on your mind?"
Sorscha startled slightly. She had been so deep in thought. " Yes... so this is going to sound so crazy, but I just have a theory about Siobhan."
"Siobhan?" asked Clodagh. She herself had not yet made the acquaintance with the former manager of the Sister Nursery and current fiancée to Roger.
"Ok, look, you know I have a damn good gay radar," Sorscha said proudly.
This statement made Clodagh laugh slightly. "That's debatable. You had no idea back then that I fancied women."
Sorscha's face certainly turned red. "That was because I didn't want to believe that someone like you would be interested in someone like me!" Clodagh put down her cup and leant towards her wife. She gave her a long kiss. "I was wrapped around your finger the first time I saw you. I love you."
Sorscha gave her another kiss. "I love you more than anything too..." Clodagh picked up her cup again and cuddled up to her. "So back to your absolutely safe and never fallible gay radar. What does that have to do with Siobhan now?"
Sorscha, who had almost lost her train of thought, was thrown back to what she had been talking about. "Exactly! So I have a super radar, and in all my years as a lesbian, I've theorised what a process of elimination is to recognise a sapphic woman!"
Clodagh giggled slightly. "Well, I'm curious then."
Her wife cleared her throat. "Well, a sapphic woman can't have everything." Sorscha began her list. " Being a good driver. Having a good relationship with her family. Have a good sleeping pattern and good maths skills!"
"Interesting thesis," said Clodagh, a little sceptical but amused.
"Exactly! For example, I'm a great driver, I have a good relationship with my parents, but I can't do maths and don't even get me started on my sleeping patterns."
Clodagh took a sip from her cup. "Ok, that makes sense. What does all this have to do with Siobhan now?"
" Good of you to ask! Well, I did some research after I saw her and one of the parents. Vivian, to be precise, having a very looong talk. And I came to the following conclusion. Siobhan can drive well, but she has no contact with her parents. No maths skills, I've seen her do the simplest maths once in her phone, and she doesn't seem to sleep well either! That's three strikes she's into women!" Sorscha got all this across with a lot of enthusiasm to really sell her key points.
Clodagh nodded along but had to pull herself together, not to start laughing. " Yes, of course that makes a lot of sense. And what are you going to do with this information? Are you going to buy her a pride flag?"
" Stop making fun of me! I don't know what I'm doing with this information. I just wanted to tell someone," said Sorscha. She had her arm around her wife and pulled her a little closer to her.
Clodagh giggled again. "Keep me informed in any case. But I must say, if Siobhan would run away with a woman on her wedding day, I would be more than surprised..." she thought a little more about Sorscha's theory. "But I do have one more question. I have a good sleep pattern, I'm a good driver and I can do maths. What does that make me, then?"
"A bottom," Sorscha said dryly. But she immediately regretted her words when her wife gave her a serious look. "I'll let you play the top. Don't forget that. If I want, I can swap roles."
Sorscha sipped her tea and tried to avoid Clodagh's penetrating gaze. " ... I know..." she murmured.
