The idea came to me after the 10 pm. video. So, while Char and Winter are having their conversation. Is this happening in the office.

For once, Janice wasn't in Marjorie's office. It was Autumn. Janice had taken a few days off because her car was being repaired. Marjorie was more than happy. It was like old times. The two sat opposite each other and worked in silence.

But when Marjorie looked at her deputy, she noticed that Autumn had her hand resting on her stomach. A habit she was now practising again. Marjorie was overjoyed for her and Winter. If anyone deserved it, it was them. But as Marjorie watched her, her mind wandered, and with it, her nervousness increased.

This did not go unnoticed by Autumn, but she decided to ignore Marjorie for the time being. But when the manager looked like she wanted to say something a third time and then didn't. Autumn couldn't help but get to the bottom of it.

"Marjorie, do you want to say something?"

The manager looked at her in surprise and then began to play nervously with the ring on her finger. " Good of you to ask... I was just wondering when you are planning to go on maternity leave."

Autumn raised her eyebrow in disbelief. "Marjorie... I'm 12 weeks pregnant, I'm not worried about that right now," she returned to her work. But Marjorie didn't seem to be at peace with the answer. She narrowed her eyes and seemed to be searching for the right words.

Autumn rolled her eyes. She wouldn't get all her work done today after all. So she stopped typing and leaned back with her arms crossed. " What's the problem?"

" Well... Well... what if, hypothetically, you wanted to work until a week before your due date... Which you definitely shouldn't do!" Marjorie gesticulated wildly with her hands. "But I know how stubborn you can be. What do I do if the baby thinks it wants to come early and you're here..."

Autumn blinked slowly at her and tilted her head. "If that should be the case. Then you call Winter or an ambulance. Do I really have to explain to you now what you have to do in such a case? You work in childcare."

The colour disappeared from Marjorie's face. " Oh good God... You're going to work until the last minute..." The manager looked like she was about to faint. "We'll see. " Autumn said dryly. "But it could be that you come to visit me, and then it happens."

"No way!" Marjorie shouted quickly.

Autumn sighed in annoyance. "Can you please stop beating around the bush and finally come out with it. What's the problem, Marjorie?"

"Well, if I'm around when you suddenly decide to have your baby... then we don't have one emergency. We have two," said Marjorie.

This statement surprised Autumn
"Do you want to explain it in more detail now?"

The colour returned to Marjorie's face, but now she looked more embarrassed. "I'm going to faint. Be unconscious. Out of order. Whatever you want to call it. Just the thought of giving birth gives me the heebie-jeebies. When it happens in movies or books, I always have to skip it. I can't deal with births!" she exclaimed.

Autumn just looked at her in disbelief. She wouldn't have thought that of Marjorie. But the manager continued. "You don't know how glad I am that you took the call from Clodaghs back then. If it had been me. You'd probably have found me unconscious, and Sorscha would have missed the birth of her child!"

"So that means you won't visit me when I'm on maternity leave and close to my due date?" Autumn asked, the thought making her a little happy. Reece was already annoying enough. If she had Marjorie around all the time, somebody would die.

"Exactly! You won't see me until after the birth! So please, Autumn, take your mandatory maternity leave like everybody else. Because I can't handle this stress," Marjorie begged her.

"Fine... then I'll go on maternity leave, not a week but two weeks before my due date. " Autumn said dryly with a slight grin.

" Aya!"
