Clodagh woke slowly, the soft morning light flooding the room. Her eyes opened with difficulty and she blinked into the stillness of the room. The room was quiet, too quiet. She stretched out her hand, hoping to feel the familiar warmth of Sorscha's body. But there was nothing. Her hand only met the cool duvet.

Confused, Clodagh sat up and looked around. A sinking feeling crept up in her stomach as she remembered what had happened last night. The argument. The kiss. Sorscha had stayed, hadn't she?

The images of what was to come flooded her mind. Clodagh pulled the blanket up to cover her body again. But where was Sorscha now?

Clodagh stood up, her muscles still aching from sleepless nights and the emotional tension of the past week. And well, last night had left her pretty exhausted too. She grabbed her clothes, which were scattered on the floor, and hurriedly put them on. She quickly ran out of the bedroom. On the way to the stairs, she quickly went into Quinn's room, but her daughter was no longer in the crib.

Now Sorscha must have already got her ready for the day. She quickly went down the stairs. When she heard the front door, Clodagh knew that Sorscha was about to leave. Her feet moved faster as she reached the door.

"Sorscha," she said quietly, her voice wavering a little as she saw her wife standing there, in the doorway. Sorscha had Quinn's bag slung around her shoulder and the girl in her arms. She turned cautiously in Clodagh's direction, her gaze almost fragile.

" Hey... good morning..." whispered Sorscha, her eyes avoiding eye contact. "I wanted to take some work off your and take Quinn to nursery..... I want you to enjoy your day off... " she stopped short, taking a deep breath. "...I'm sorry.... Yesterday was way too fast... I didn't mean to rush you or overwhelm you..."

Clodagh swallowed and took a step closer. Her heart pounded loudly in her chest. "It was a good first step. An important one. But we need to talk now about where we go from here," she said quietly, but there was a determination in her words that she had lost in all those months of pain and doubt. "It won't be easy, but I want to know if you're really willing to work on us. On our trust."

Sorscha nodded slowly, her eyes remaining fixed on the floor as she formed the words, "I do. I really do. I know I made a mistake... A bloody big one... but I don't want to give up on us."

Clodagh took a deep breath, her hands shaking slightly, but she was determined to walk this path, no matter how hard it might be.

"We have to take our time. And be honest with each other," Clodagh said, her voice firm and calm. ".. I know you're off today too... Please come back when you've dropped Quinn off."

Sorscha raised her eyes, a spark of hope glimmering. "Yes, of course... definitely." A slight smile flitted across her face.

The two women stood opposite each other, just looking at each other. Clodagh took a step closer and gave Quinn a kiss on the forehead. Then she raised her eyes to Sorscha. Her wife's jacket collar was as crooked as usual, and as if out of habit, Clodagh reached for the collar and straightened it. Then she stroked the jacket again to make sure the fabric was really smooth. "Now you can leave the house," she said gently.

But Sorscha hesitated, she didn't seem to know what to do next. "Clo?" When Clodagh heard the nickname, her heart leapt. "Yes," she replied quietly.

"I... I'd like to kiss you now, but I don't want to cross any boundaries," she spoke carefully.

Clodagh couldn't help but laugh lightly. "Sorscha, we slept together last night. I think we've already crossed the line... but thank you for giving me so much time."
