It was an ordinary Monday morning at the Nursery. Charlotte was sitting at the table in the break room, staring at her phone and occasionally taking a sip from her mug. She still had a good half hour until the day would officially start. The door opened, and Sorscha entered the room. She yawned loudly and headed straight for the coffee machine, pouring herself a huge cup.
She then plopped down on the chair opposite Charlotte with her cup. The brunette was so engrossed in her phone that she only briefly paid attention to Sorscha.
"Sorscha?" Charlotte suddenly spoke without taking her eyes off her phone. "Did you know that grind pads exist?"
Sorscha, who had just taken a big sip from her cup, choked. She coughed loudly and thumped her chest. "What?! Charlie, it's seven o'clock in the morning!"
"So what? But did you know that?" she asked innocently, but now with a cheeky grin on her lips. "So, what do you think? Would that be a good investment?"
Sorscha just stared at her in disbelief. "My God, Mia has changed you." She took another sip from her cup. "And to answer your question. Yes, I know there is such a thing, but I don't talk to you in the early morning about what I do in my.... free time."
Charlotte laughed. "Sorry, sorry! I just thought, if anyone knows it's you. I'm just worried that it might rub the wearer's thigh, the straps look rough." She tilted her head slightly as she looked at her phone again. "Not that it's uncomfortable for Mia. Or am I mistaken?"
Sorscha gasped for air, a slight blush forming on her cheeks. " Um... no... totally comfortable..." she spoke quietly, avoiding eye contact with Charlotte.
Now Charlotte was looking at her questioningly. The brunette put her phone down and placed both of her hands on the table. It was clear to see that the gears were turning in Charlotte's head. "You have no idea because you've never worn one!"
"No, that's not true!" protested Sorscha. "I just don't like talking about it, it's a very private subject that only concerns me and my wife." She crossed her arms and leant back.
Charlotte narrowed her eyes slightly. "All right..." she mumbled, even though she didn't believe a word Sorscha said. Because if there was one thing Sorscha wanted to prove, that she wore the metaphorical trousers in her marriage. But Charlotte had the feeling that the truth was quite different.
The two were now sitting in silence. Charlotte returned to her phone and scrolled on inconsequentially. Was it a bit strange to google things like that in the early morning? Perhaps. But thanks to Mia, Charlotte finally felt comfortable with her sexuality and no longer wanted to treat it as a taboo subject.
Completely lost in her thoughts, Charlotte mumbled quietly. " How does a... strap on work? That looks uncomfortable."
Without thinking about it, Sorscha spoke. " Get one in medium. You can't go wrong with that." She suddenly froze. " ... fuck..."
" Ah ha! I knew it! Who would have thought! Welcome to the club of bottoms!" Charlotte started laughing out loud.
"What, no!" Sorscha defended herself.
"Oh come on, it's no big deal, I just didn't think that of Clodagh." said Charlotte with a grin.
"Hey, let me tell you something! I'm not a bottom, ok!" Sorscha's face became even redder.
"Really?" Charlotte now challenged her. "Then why don't you explain to me whether you have to pad something for a strap on?"
Sorscha frowned and rubbed the back of her neck. " Erm... damn... how was that thing called? Clo told me..." she had blabbed again. Which she realised straight away. "Damn!"
Charlotte laughed even louder now, and Sorscha buried her face in her hands in shame. The break room door opened, and Marjorie and Autumn entered the room. "Good morning!" Marjorie called out happily, but she immediately noticed the atmosphere in the room. "What's going on here?"
Charlotte grinned broadly again. " Oh, nothing. Just a realisation of who's in control in the Doyle marriage."
Marjorie frowned questioningly. Autumn, on the other hand, also picked up a cup from the cupboard. She then spoke dryly. "So Sorscha has finally admitted that she's a bottom."
Sorscha just grumbled and became even redder in the face. Marjorie put a hand on her shoulder. "Oh, don't worry about it. I'm one too, and so is Autumn."
Charlotte was now confused by this statement. "Marjorie, do you even know what a bottom is? You have no idea about these terms."
"Am I wrong?" Marjorie looked at Autumn. "Speak for yourself, Marjorie. I'm definitely not one." She picked up her cup and left.
"Can someone enlighten me?" Marjorie asked.
"It's best to ask Sorscha. She knows a lot about it." Charlotte spoke with a wink and stood up.
"Sorscha?"
"Nope, I'm out!" The Irish jumped up and quickly left the room, leaving a confused Marjorie behind.
