When Clodagh entered the house it was quiet, a stillness layed over the entire flat. She put down her bag and took off her coat. After grabbing a water bottle, she sat on the sofa with it and a glass in her hand. Clodagh put down her drink, picked up the book that was on the coffee table and leaned back. She still had some time and wanted to take advantage of the silence and peace. The woman smiled slightly, it was really a nice afternoon, and she would definitely thank Sorscha for taking Quinn on the playdate. Well, more or less voluntary. Even though she loved her family more than anything in the world and wouldn't trade it for anything. Sometimes she also needed some time for herself. Especially now that she had started working again. Clodagh had just finished reading her third chapter when she heard the door to the apartment, she looked up at the clock. Exactly two hours. A slight smile formed on her lips. She heard her wife's footsteps going up the stairs first. Quinn probably fell asleep on the way home. After a short while, Sorscha entered the room. Clodagh couldn't help but laugh slightly when she saw her wife.
Sorscha looked grim, and when she looked grim, a wrinkle always formed between her eyebrows. Without saying anything, she sat down next to Clodagh, immediately crossing her arms and looking like an angry child.
"So? How was the playdate with Bob?" Clodagh asked innocently and put the book aside.
Sorscha snorted loudly. "I don't know? How was the playdate with Bob?" she looked at her wife seriously. Clodagh grinned mischievously in response. "I don't know what you're talking about."
Sorscha immediately dug her phone out of her pocket and started to search for something on it, while she grumbled incomprehensibly under her breath. She was watched by Clodagh, who propped herself up with her arm on the headboard, with an amusement smile. Sorscha suddenly held the phone directly in front of Clodagh's face. "This!", Instagram was open and a post from Bob could be seen. He had uploaded a picture of two coffee cups. "I know this wallet!" Sorscha shouted and pointed to the cream-colored wallet, which was difficult to see in the background.
"Coincidence," Clodagh said simply and grinned even more.
Sorscha threw her cell on the sofa next to her and crossed her arms again. Clodagh smiled slightly and leaned towards her wife. She reached out and brushed a strand of hair from her face. "Now don't act like that... you had fun didn't you?" she spoke softly. "No..." Sorscha grumbled. Clodagh knew how to calm her wife down. As Clodagh caressed her wife's cheek with a gentle touch and gave her a kiss, she felt Sorscha immediately relax. The grim expression disappeared, and instead of anger, it was now affection that filled the atmosphere. A slight smile appeared on Sorscha's lips, and for a moment the whole world seemed to stand still.
"Maybe it was nice after all...Bob's husband is really nice," Sorscha murmured as she pulled Clodagh into her arms. "Maybe we can go together next time or invite them both over?"
Clodagh laughed softly and ran a hand down her wife's back. "That sounds great," she said. "A little social interaction is good every now and then. right?" She winked mischievously at Sorscha.
Sorscha sighed, pulled her wife even closer to her and leaned back. Clodagh made herself comfortable on her wife's chest. "But really rarely."
Clodagh smiled. "Sometimes I can't believe you asked me out. Your interpersonal communication is so bad and yet you still have me wrapped around your finger."
Sorscha looked into her eyes and raised an eyebrow. "Excuse me. My flirting skills are top tier." She wrapped her arms around Clodagh and pulled her closer to her. "But it could also have been because I spoke to you in a bar and you were visibly drunk."
Clodagh smiled. "That's right. Alcohol is known to make you braver. But it was the best decision of my life to have the courage to say yes that day."
Sorscha looked up at Clodagh and a fleeting moment of silence fell between them. Clodagh could feel her wife drawing gentle circles on her back with her hand. Sorscha gave her another kiss. "And I am the luckiest woman in the world that you said yes that day."
With a satisfied grin, Clodagh laid her head back on her wife's chest. Life could be stressful at times, but she was still glad she took this path. To have built this life here with Sorscha. Because no matter what stones life would throw in her way. Clodagh knows that Sorscha will always be by her side. She yawned softly, and shortly afterwards Clodagh fell into a deep sleep.
