You, Ashton, and your son Greyson stood silently at the front door of your house. The two week vacation was over, causing him and the boys to leave for tour once again. He hated seeing the dreadful look on his son’s face.
You see the look on Ashton’s face as he is knelt down in front of your son, reminding you of last night when Ashton cried in your arms, telling about how he thought his son hated him for leaving him every time he went on tour. Just the thought made tears stream down your face, cauing you to breathe heavily for air. Ashton and Greyson both look up at you, both having tears running down their face as well.
Ashton sniffled before standing up to wrap you in his loving embrace. His face dug into the crook of your neck as he whispered to you, swaying you both back in fourth in the tight hug.
"Take care of yourselves. I’ll miss you so fucking much baby."
You slightly giggled for him swearing, tears still falling down both of your faces. You hear the car horn honk outside of the door, telling Ashton that he had to go. He nodded his head, kneeling back down to his son, putting both hands on either side of his shoulders, gripping slightly as he laughed a little.
"Daddy has to go now Greyson."
"Why do you have to leave us Daddy?"
"No no no, Greyson. I’m not leaving you. I’m going on a mission. I’m a super hero who has to travel around the world so I can keep you and your mother safe. And while I’m gone, you will be the man of the house, you hear me?"
"But Daddy, I’m only 4-"
"Yes, Greyson, you are only 4, but your mum here needs to have a man in the house. She needs to have someone that can take care of her and protect her from monsters. Can you keep her safe, Mini Smash?"
"I’ll try Daddy. I’ll try."
Your son sniffled and Ashton smiled at him, giggling slightly before tapping him lightly on his shoulder.
"That’s all I need from you. I need you to try. And once you’ve successfully taken care of her, you can get promoted and maybe you can come fight off bad guys with me."
"Yay I get to fight bad guys with Daddy!"
"That’s my boy!"
Ashton stands up, watching his son pretend to fly around the room before looking at you.
"I love you, baby."
"I love you too, Ash. Take care of yourself, ecspecially around the boys."
He laughed at you while he opened the door, making his way outside.
"Wait Daddy!"
Ashton turns around to see Greyson running towards him. Ashton kneels down to get to his height as his son wraps his small arms around his father.
"I love you Daddy."
"I love you too, son."
