I'll Be Back (Richie Tozier)

(Part 14 of Is The Baby Mine?)

Richie didn't want to, but he had to go back on tour. His agent said that after Finn was born, he could have six months off to adjust to life with a baby, but after the six months, he would have to go back on tour.

Richie didn't want to leave Y/N and Finn. He wanted to stay and watch Finn grow everyday. He wanted to rock Finn to sleep and hold Y/N while he drifted off to sleep.

He packed his suit case and drug it down the stairs. He placed by the door and walked into the kitchen. He sat down at the kitchen table and placed his head in his hands. He didn't move till he felt someone run their fingers through his hair.

He lifted his head and saw Y/N and Finn smiling at him. He smiled back, and Y/N handed Finn to him. He hugged his son as Y/N began cooking breakfast. Richie kissed and tickled Finn, and Finn smiled and laughed at him. Y/N sat down plates of food and placed Finn in his high chair. They began to eat, but Richie barely touched his food.

"Are you okay, Rich?"
"I don't want to leave you and Finn. I want to stay here and take care of you two. I need to be here. I want to see him grow more everyday with my eyes and not videos and pictures."
"Hey, it's okay. I know that you want to be here, but it's your job. You have to go on tour to make money to support our family. As soon as I can, I'm going to find a job to help support us so you don't have to tour as much."
"I told you that you don't have to work. I can take care of us."
"I know, but it doesn't feel right for you to go and work, and me to just sit here."

Y/N stood up and walked over to sink, placing her plate in the sink. Richie stood up and followed her. He placed his hands in her hips and turned her so she was facing him. He looked into her eyes, and she stared right back at him.

"You don't just sit here. You have the hardest job out of everyone. Everyday, you take care of Finn, and that's the only job I could ever ask you to do. You don't have to get a job. Please, let me take care of us."

Y/N smiled, and she wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him into a kiss. They pulled away, but stayed that way for a few minutes.

"What time does your flight leave?"
"3:30 p.m. I have car coming to get me in about an hour."

Finn began to whine, and Y/N released Richie and walked over to Finn. She pulled him out of his high chair and walked back over to Richie.

As soon as she made it to him, Finn began to whine and reach for Richie. Y/N handed him over, and he rested his head on Richie's shoulder. Finn blinked his eyes sleepily as Richie rubbed his back.

"Will you show him a picture of me everyday so he doesn't forget me?"
"Baby, he would never in a million years forget you. You're his daddy, and he loves you so much. And I love you so much."
"I love the both of you too."

A little while later, Richie got a notification that the car would be there to get him in about five minutes. He stood up, while holding Finn, and he walked over to the door. Y/N followed him and grabbed his suitcase. He gave Y/N a sad smile as he began to say his goodbyes.

"God, I'm gonna miss you two so much. You better FaceTime me everyday I'm gone."
"I will, Rich. Don't worry."
"Okay, Finny. Daddy's gotta go. Here, go to mommy."

Richie attempted to hand Finn over to Y/N, but Finn began to cry, and he tighten his grip on Richie's shirt. Richie felt tears begin to build in his eyes, and he looked at Y/N and saw that tears were threatening to leave her eyes as well. He rubbed Finn's back, soothing his tears.

Once Finn calmed down, Richie pulled Finn back a bit so he could see his face. Richie knew that he wouldn't understand what he was about to say, but he said it anyways for himself and Y/N to hear.

"Daddy has to go, but don't you worry. I'll be back, I promise. I love you and your mommy so much, and I'm gonna miss you two like crazy."

Richie looked over at Y/N and saw that she was crying, and his tears began to fall from his eyes.

"Come here, baby."

Y/N moved closer to him, and she wrapped her arms around him. They enjoyed their little family hug until they heard the sound of a car horn.

Y/N released Richie, and he handed Finn over to her. Richie wiped his tears away then wiped Y/N's. He kissed the top of Finn's head, and he placed a comforting kiss on Y/N's lips. He reluctantly pulled away, and he grabbed his suitcase.

"I'll be back before you know it. I love you you two so much."
"We love you too. Have a safe flight, baby."

Richie turned and walked toward the car. He placed his suitcase in the trunk and opened the back passenger side door. He turned back towards Y/N and Finn and waved at them. Y/N waved back then she picked up Finn's arm and waved it at Richie. He smiled and got into the back of the car. He looked out the back window, staring at them till he lost sight of them.

Y/N pulled Finn closer to her as the car drove further and further away. As soon as the car was out of her sight, she turned and walked back into their house. Richie will be back soon. They just had to wait until that time.
