calum never understood why the boy in the back of his math class never spoke, always indulged in a book or a journal and he hasn't even heard his voice because he was the new kid a few months ago and he's finally had enough of crushing on the boy so he walks up to him, 'hey, i'm calum.' and calum frowns when he doesn't answer, just continues reading and he repeats what he said, this time tapping his book and the boy looks up, his lips parting and calum's about to say something when luke hemmings comes over, signing 'ready?' to michael, who nods and smiles at the boy with a pink blush as he walks away and calum finally understands that he's deaf.

calum had talked to luke about michael and calum has been practicing for days at this point, so he walks up to michael at lunch, tapping his shoulder and michael looks up and blushes, smiling and waving a little at calum and the kiwi boy smiles, slowly signing 'will you go out with me?' and michael looks at him wide eyed and nods, before frantically taking out a notebook so they can write to each other and let's just say that michael has to sign 'i do.'
