Stephanie Rogers stands awkwardly in front of Brooklyn High School, nervously toying with her dog tags that hung around her neck all the time. Her long blonde hair hung down her shoulders and she wore skinny jeans, a simple white blouse and a blue cardigan. Typical good girl. She takes a deep breath before stepping through the large wooden doors. The hallways were small and cramped but clean and smelled of a mix of perfume, cologne and cleaner.
She steps around a circle of giggling, gossiping girls and continues on her way to find the art room. In every school, that was her hideout. She carefully worms her way through groups and almost makes it to the art room without drawing attention to herself. Almost.
"Whoa whoa! Watch it, doll," a voice says, but they didn't sound angry, just slightly amused. Steph looks back at the tall, handsome brunette she'd just accidentally shoved past.
"S-sorry," she stutters, feeling her face flush red. The boy's friends all jeer and laugh but he tilts his head slightly as he observes her with cool sea coloured eyes. She didn't even know what sea coloured explained, just... wow is all she could say. His eyes were amazing and for a moment she found herself lost in them before she blinked and, embarrassed and ready to dig into a hole and never come out, she hurried into the art room and ducked behind a large group of girls.
"Somethin' caught your eye, Barnes?" One of the boys sneers, elbowing him in the ribs. The brunette rolls his eyes and shoves the other boys' shoulder.
"F*** off, Sitwell," he retorts and Sitwell merely smirks before sauntering off with the rest of the guys. James Barnes, or Bucky as his parents called him, leans against the wall and folds his arms across his chest.

Steph takes a seat at the table and lets out a deep sigh, she pulls out her sketchbook and flips it to the latest sketch she was working on. The door opens silently and the rest of the students file out, leaving her alone. She sighs in relief and starts shading in one part of the sketch. The door opens again but she doesn't look over, too engrossed in her work. Someone takes a seat across from her and she lifts her head, her hand was smudged with black. She was surprised to find the same handsome brunette sitting across from her.
"Mind if I sit here?" He inquires and she shakes her head a little. In all honesty, she preferred to be alone when she drew, but whatever.
She leans down to draw a little but feel his eyes on her, making her a little flustered. She raises her head again and he actually blushes a little.
"Sorry, I've just never seen you around before," he explains.
"I'm new here, my name's Stephanie Rogers," she introduces and he nods.
"I'm James Barnes, but you can call me Bucky," he invites and she smiles softly and tucks a strand of hair behind her ear, looking shyly up at him.
"Why Bucky?" She asks and he rubs the back of his neck awkwardly.
"My middle name is Buchanan," he sighs and she laughs lightly. "Yeah, yeah, go ahead and laugh." He says and she shakes her head, smiling. He watches her quietly, a small smile on his face. He was liking her so far.
"James Buchanan Barnes, huh? Well, better than Stephanie Grant Rogers," she muses and he chuckles.
"What're you on about, that's a cool name. Hey, what class do you have first?" He asks, tilting his head a little, looking like a puppy. He was so cute and Steph found herself blushing even more. Cute guys never paid attention to her.
"Uh, social studies, I think," she frowns, pulling out her schedule and peering at it. He nods a little and glances at the clock before getting up.
