"Ready, Buck?" Steve says then frowns a little at the suit he wore, looking down at it. It was a handsome navy blue suit, just a bit too tight on his chest. He tugs it down a little.

"Mhm," Bucky hums, sauntering into the room. He wore a black suit with a red button up shirt, the top button was undone and his usually messy, chin length brown hair was neatly swept out of the way. Steve lets out a low whistle.

"Lookin' real snazzy," he comments and Bucky shrugs a shoulder.

"It'll do. Are we really going through with this?" Bucky frowns, fiddling with Steve's tie to fix it for him.

"I'm already holding a table, no backing out now," he responds and the brunette blows out a breath.

"Right. That top's too tight," Bucky points out and the blonde nods before getting a new one on. Bucky slides his arm around Steve's waist and kisses his cheek.

"Well, lets kill it, babe," Bucky sighs as they step outside. Steve gives him a look.

"You aren't killing anyone this time, Buck."

"Cut me some slack, he was a Hydra agent."

"Doesn't count."

"Shush, it does too. 'Cause I say so."

"Okay, Buck."

They arrive at the restaurant on time and spot the other couple almost instantly. Bucky had been against this entire double date for weeks but Steve never backed down from a promise. He was too stubborn to do so.

"Hey, Steve," Sharon smiles, offering a hand. He smiles back a little and shakes her hand briefly, Bucky nods at her.

"This is Grant Ward," she introduces the man beside her. He nods at Steve with a small smile then nods at Bucky but pauses a little as he studies him. Steve and Sharon make small talk so Bucky raises an eyebrow at Grant, who slowly looks away.

"So. Ready to kill it?" Bucky asks them all in general and Steve nudges him in the ribs. When Sharon and Grant take a seat he scowls up at Steve.

"It'll be fine, Buck, it's just a couple of hours," Steve whispers and Bucky sighs softly. He takes a seat as well and Steve joins him.

"So, how's work been?" Sharon tries to make conversation, looking at Bucky. The brunette looks to Steve and the blonde answers. The first half an hour of the double date was Steve and Sharon trying to keep conversation going while Bucky and Grant observed each other. Something seemed familiar about him, but off. The brunette didn't like it. He tries to place where he saw him before.

"Right, Buck?" Steve says, glancing at his boyfriend and Bucky freezes.

"Uh..." he trails off, eyes flicking at Grant again. Steve rests a hand on Bucky's leg under the table. "Sorry, off in my own world." The brunette apologizes and Sharon nods.

"Steve was just telling me you have an interest in knitting, that's interesting," Sharon says and Bucky shrugs.

"Yeah, it helps keep my mind off things," he replies, which wasn't too far from the truth. He knitted to calm down from Winter Soldier mode, which was still taking a while to go away. Bucky's metal hand twitches slightly in his lap.

"Dinner will be up in but a moment, madame," the waiter addresses Sharon with a small bow before walking off. He'd brought a little basket of crunchy bread sticks with flavorings. Bucky picks one up and fiddles with it.

"So, Bucky, what did you do for a living until you found Captain America?" Grant pipes up with a small smile. "I mean, that's pretty big, most couldn't snag a catch like that."

"Bounced around a lot, I guess," the brunette replies, twiddling the breadstick. Grant nods and leans back in his seat and folds his arms. Bucky watches him closely as the chatter builds up a little, Grant in on the conversation. Something was worming its way to the front of his mind, and his eyes widened when he realized what it was.

"Buck?" Steve asks quietly, looking at him. The brunette looks back. "You alright, you're lookin' a little pale."

"Anyone know where the washroom is?" Bucky asks, looking at the two others seated at the table. Sharon points and Bucky nods. He gets up and grabs Steve's sleeve then hurries to the luckily empty washroom.

"What's going on?" Steve frowns, crossing his arms.

"Grant is Hydra. Agent Grant Ward, hired to work for S.H.I.E.L.D several months ago, turned out to be a double agent, we need to go," Bucky explains quickly.

"Crap. Okay. Let's go, grab what you want. We'll need a pretty good excuse, Buck," Steve sighs and the brunette pauses a moment.

"Hit me," Bucky suggests and the blonde shakes his head. "Please?"

"Nothin' doing."

"Ugh. Fine," Bucky rolls his eyes, turns and smashes his head into the wall.

"What the h***, Bucky!" Steve exclaims, hurrying to his side. Bucky, dazed, pulls back and looks at him. Blood trickled down from above his eyebrow and a bruise was starting to form.

"Buck," Steve sighs, brushing his hair away from the cut.

"'Kay, we got a story, got a plan, I need to grab some breadsticks," Bucky says and Steve raises an eyebrow.

"Breadsticks."

"Uh huh, so your point is?"

Steve shakes his head with a sigh. "Only you would go back for the breadsticks."

"Bread is life. Come on," Bucky replies, wadding up a bunch of toilet paper and pressing it gingerly to the wound. Steve puts an arm around his waist and the pair head out.

"Oh my gosh, what happened?" Sharon asks, frowning a little at the wincing brunette. He'd managed to get teared up and it looked realistic.

"He tripped over his own feet," Steve sighs and Bucky nods though in his mind he scowls. He was not that clumsy.

"Gee, that looks kinda' bad," Sharon frowns.

"I should take him to the doctor's. I'm sorry about this, guys," Steve sighs and Sharon nods.

"We understand," she replies, although she looked disappointed. Bucky winces a little and presses a hand to his head.

"C'mon, Steve," he asks in an almost pleading voice and Sharon's face takes on an almost pitying look. As they go to walk out Bucky grabs a handful of breadsticks and holds them close to him.

"Well, I think that worked out rather okay," Bucky muses, chomping on a breadstick. Steve glances at him and rolls his eyes before digging around the glove compartment for a bandage.
"You're nuts, you know that?" He sighs as he dabs the blood away and puts the bandage over the cut. Bucky shrugs a shoulder.

"I know," he agrees, slouching in his seat. Steve smirks a little and shakes his head as he looks back to the road. His Bucky was quite the character.

They arrive back home with no further mishaps. Bucky enjoyed those breadsticks but wouldn't share with Steve; he adored his bread way too much.
