Your POV:

"3! 2! 1! HAPPY NEW YEAR!" Everyone yelled. All the couples kissed. Chloe picked up a chicken finger and kissed it before eating it.

Christen grabbed my hand. "A new years kiss." She said leaning in.

"GROSS!" Matt yelled.

I pulled away and looked at him. "Do you want one?" He started shaking his head. "Come on!" I ran after him. "Let me love you little bro!:

"Y/N STOP!" He kept running.

Christen's POV:

I watched my girlfriend chase her little brother.

"She's a good sister." Her mom said. "Always has been."

"She's a good everything." I said. "Thank you for bringing her into the world."

"You love her don't you?"

"How can you tell?"

"I just know." She said. "The way you treat her, look at her, just so much love in your eyes."

"Does she love me?"

"My daughter has witnessed so much pain in relationships she thought had love. She doesn't truly know what love is, even now being 22 years old." She said. "But I think, she is learning how to love because of you."

"She told me she thinks she's falling for me." I said. "I believe her. I do but I can't help but feel she still has something with Kelley."

"I understand. I felt that with her father after the first time he cheated. I took him back but always felt like he still had something with the woman he was with. I was right, but they had something. Kelley and Y/N never started anything." She put her hand on my shoulder. "You two have a happy, loving, strong relationship. There's trust, which is important. There's none of that with Y/N and Kelley. Not even in their friendship."

I looked at Y/N. "I love her."

"I know you do Christen. Give her time to learn and she will realize she loves you too." She walked away.

"I got him." Y/N said walking back over to me. "And all that running got me ready for preseason." I laughed. "What were you two talking about?"

"Just talking. Nothing important." The party kept going on.
