Your POV:

January camp. 2015 was behind us, and we looked forward to 2016.

ARod and Syd were pregnant so they weren't on the roster. Pinoe was out with her ACL and Rampone was also injured.

No more Cheney, Boxx, Lori or Abby.

We looked different.

Luckily we still had legends like Hope, Carli and Heather.

"Olympic year." Christen said when we got to training.

"Just take it one month at a time babe."

We headed to training and started fitness testing.

After all the torture we hung out on the field. "Hi." A small child said from next to me. "Mallory."

"Hey. Yeah Mallory. Nice to meet you." I shook her hand. "Welcome to camp."

"Thanks. It's crazy."

"I know. Said the same thing my camp." I laughed. "You're quiet the star I've heard."

"I'm alright." She shrugged.

"You know who's amazing? Me."

"And there's the ego." I said. "Mal. This is-"

"Kelley O'Hara. Too dangerous as a forward, they had to put me in the backline."

I rolled my eyes.

"And then in midfield."

"What can I say, kid." Kelley put her hands on her hips. "They needed a bitch."

I scoffed. "Kel. Don't break this kid. She's got a good head on her shoulders." I looked at Mallory. "Stay away from this one." I put my arm on her shoulder. "Stick with the good ones. Morgan, Christen, Alex, Tobin, Ash, Ali, some others. But especially Alex and Christen. I think you'll learn a lot from them."

She nodded. "I just can't wait to get out there."

"You're gonna do great." Kelley said. "I've seen you play with the youth teams." She started to walk away. "You're talented. Can't wait to see what you got."

Morgan walked over. "She can be nice? I almost threw up our first camp because of her."

I laughed. "But look at you now!" I said. "Killin it."

"I miss Cheney." She walked away.

I looked at Mal. "Ok so many just stick with Alex and Press." We looked and saw Alex running with a ball. She shot it and it sailed into the back of the net.

"Woah." Mal said.

Press kicked the ball and it curved into the goal. I smiled. "You're gonna learn a lot." I said getting a ball.

Christen's POV:

"Perfect." I said when the ball hit the net.

"Damn that curve. I can totally do that."

"Shut it McCaffrey."

Alex walked over. "Looks like the newbie and Y/N get along great." She said.

"Yeah." I said. "What are your thoughts on her?"

"Its gonna be good. She's a great striker for her age. What is she? 17?"

"Yeah I think so. Gonna fit in good here."

Your POV:

"Shoot it." I said. I passed the ball to her and she shot it. It hit the crossbar. "That was good, but we aren't doing the crossbar challenge." I laughed.

"Looks like the rookie is only good with the youth teams." Kling walked over.

"Kling." I said.

"Shut up. I'm gonna build her confidence watch." She walked over. "Ok rookie. Listen, we all know you're a big shot on the youth team. But here? You gotta earn that spot. Show us you're more than the U-20 star. Show us you can kill it with the vets too." She stepped back. "Go again."

"Ready?" I got another ball. She nodded. I passed her the ball and she shot it again. This time it curved perfectly into the goal.

"There it is!" Kling clapped. "USA goal scored by the wonder kid! 17 year old Mal Pugh!"

Mal laughed. I looked over at Christen. "You got some competition babe!" I yelled.

"You two are"

"Yeah. They are disgustingly adorable together." Crystal joined us.

"Alright ladies. Head on out! You get the rest of the day off. Back to work tomorrow."

We've got a small little baby Mal! Thinking about making us win gold in this story.... Or would that just cause me more pain thinking about what could've been?
