Your POV:

Today we were in New Jersey to face Sky Blue.

Kelley, Sam, Cap.

Yeah. It's a big game.

"You're gonna play against your girlfriend." Julie said. "That's funny."

"I played against her all during college JJ." I said.

"Yeah but you guys are dating now."

"You don't bug Press when we play Por-"

"OK!" Christen cut me off. "Sh." She said.

Julie's face became surprised. "WHAT!" She said. "You were gonna say something, Y/N. Christen don't interrupt."

"It's nothing important."

"How would you know? You cut her off." Julie smirked. "Finished young one."

"Chris is right. Nothing important." I smiled.

"McCaffrey!" Coach yelled. "You're starting on the bench. DaCosta, you're starting."

"Oh." Julie said. "Steph McBenchrey."

"You didn't." Alyssa sighed.

"Yeah, I'm regretting that decision."

We went out for warmups. I saw Kelley. "She's not starting." Sofia said. "You new bestie, Sam is."

I nodded. "Ok. I'm just focused on the game."

"You better be. We need to win the rest of our games to make that playoff spot ours." She said.

"What's her problem?" Danny said.

"I don't know."

Game time.

The whistle blew and we got underway. Christen passed me the ball and I ran towards goal.

I took the shot and scored.

1-0 Chicago! "THERE WE GO!" Danny yelled. I jumped on Christen.

"Chicago goal scored in the 5th minute by #4 Y/N L/N assisted by #23 Christen Press."

I looked at the Sky Blue bench. Kelley was pouting. I laughed and ran by.

We went into halftime up 1-0.

"Kel better play." Julie said. "I wanna tackle her." She thought about it. "And not have Dawn yell at me after."

I laughed. We walked back out to the field. "No injuries. Just play some good football. Get the win. We can't afford suspensions." I said.

"Got it. Got it."

Kelley got subbed in. "Oh hey. It's my girlfriend." She looked at me. "What's up? You know, you'd look a lot better in a Sky Blue FC jersey."

"Maybe. But I also look pretty good in a playoff spot so." I shrugged.

"Oh, shit she went there." Sam said.

2nd half underway.

It was pretty chilled out. Fouls, shots on goal, corners.

No goals.

Then 72nd minute. "Y/N!" Danny yelled. She sent the ball through and I got it. I saw Christen.

She looked in my direction and I passed it to her. She shot it.

"Chicago goal scored in the 72nd minute by #23 Christen Press assisted by #4 Y/N L/N."

"You two need to stop!" Danny jumped on my back.

"It's not over yet." Sofia said.

"It is for you." Danny said and pointed. Steph was up. Sofia was making way for her.

Steph ran on and we got settled.

Julie got the ball from Alyssa and passed it to Danny.

From Danny it went to Steph and then to Christen.

"NO!" I heard Kelley yell.

Christen passed it and I shot it.

"Chicago goal scored in the 80th minute by #4 Y/N L/N assisted by #23 Christen Press."

"Deadly strike force." Steph smiled. "Deadly!"

We celebrated the 3rd goal.

Into stoppage time we go. Kelley had the ball. Steph ran back to help defend. She slid into Kelley's leg, and Kel went down.

She screamed in pain. "KEL!" I ran over. I could hear her crying.

The ref gave Steph a yellow card as Sky Blue's trainers ran on the pitch. Christie stayed by Kelley's side.

"Is she ok?" I kneeled down.

"Go to your team, Y/N." Christie said. "I'll look out for her." I got up and looked at Steph.

"What the hell was that, McCaffrey!" I walked up to her.

"I didn't mean it. I was just trying to stop the attack."

"We're up 3-0 in stoppage time! There's no need for that!" I looked back at Kelley. They got her up and helped her off the pitch. "She's crying." I said.

Because of Kelley's injury, more time was added on.

In that time, Sam scored.

3-1.

Final whistle was blown. Everyone celebrated the win, but I only cared about Kelley.

"She'll be fine." Christen said.

I saw Sam and walked over. "Anything on Kelley?"

"No." She said. "What the hell was that?"

"I don't know." I sighed. "I'm probably gonna get shit for yelling at my teammate but that was reckless. That could've been a red."

"Look. Go to the locker room. Cool off okay? I'll find Kelley, see what's up and let you know."

"Thanks, Sam." I patted her back.

"That's what friends are for." She went off to the locker room. I headed to my team.

"That was reckless, McCaffrey. That could've been a red, you would've put us down a player AND be suspended next match." Rory said. "I didn't sign you so you can do stuff like that."

Steph looked down.

"Besides all that, great win today. Great team effort. Press, L/N." We looked at him. "Keep up the great work."

He left and we all got ready to leave too. We were heading out to the bus and I saw Kelley.

On crutches.

"Kel." I ran over. "What's wrong?"

"Could be nothing. Could be something." She said. "I don't know."

"It looked bad."

"Look don't worry about me alright? Go to your team." She said.

"Kelley. What?"

"Go be with your team, let me go with mine." She looked at me. She walked away, with the crutches of course.

She'd probably bust her ass if she didn't have them.

"The fuck is her problem?" I saw Sam.

She shrugged. "Don't know. I'll try to cool her off. Call you later." She said and walked off.

I went to the bus and walked towards the back.

"How's Kelley?" Steph asked.

"Don't know."

"What's wrong?" Christen sat next to me.

"Nothing. I'm fine." I said and looked out the window.
