Life in Inaba was peaceful, although some would say that it was boring.
That was until there were murders taking place in the smal rural town, being the subject of many conversations. There had been three victims, one being a teacher at your school. From what you heard, he was a second year homeroom teacher. You were a first year, so you hadn't seen him around much.
These events made you a bit nervous, making you go straight home after school for the sake of safety. At school, you simply tried to busy yourself with your studies the best you could.
It wasn't like anyone invited you out after school, anyway. It wasn't that you were bullied! You just kept to yourself and rarely spoke to people. Some classmates at least knew of your kindness though, as you'd often pick up the slack of people without complaint. You couldn't bring yourself to say no.
Helping with the police case was a detective named Naoto Shirogane, who no long ago transferred to your school. An ongoing trend people followed was checking the Midnight Channel, where it was revealed that the 'Detective Prince' was actually female.
You weren't sure how the Midnight Channel worked, and preferred not to look into it too much. It worked out for Naoto though, as her popularity only grew due to boys and girls. You weren't one to boldly tell someone what you think, but you had to admit at least to yourself you had a bit of a crush.
Luckily for you, she was in your class. You didn't have the courage to go speak to her, but many others did. Many times during the week people in your own class and other classes would approach her, but would be turned down.
"Hey, L/n-san!" A voice called. You looked away from Naoto, hiding your pink cheeks.
"Y-yes?" You asked. The persons who called you was a girl in your class, you two didn't talk much,
She gave you a grin, waving her hand. "I forgot my homework from last week, can I copy yours? Please?" She clapped her hands together as if in prayer.
You nodded. "Oh, sure. I think it's in my locker, I'll go get it..."
Her face lit up. "Thanks! I'll be waiting."
Getting up from your seat, you quickly left the classroom and approached the lockers. Since you were on the first floor already, they were easy to reach.
Since you stayed at home mostly and didn't really have friends, you ended up doing homework way earlier than most. Once you were done, you'd put it in your locker to keep it safe. After retrieving said item you returned to class.
"Thanks again! I'll bring it back to you." Your classmate promised, and you nodded.
Some time passed, then your teacher arrived. It was the usual, with them talking for a long period of time and sometimes asking questions. It wasn't exactly enjoyable, but you could deal with it.
Eventually, the bell rang for lunch. Some people stayed in class to eat, and some went to go buy something from the cafeteria. You were part of the former, regularly packing a lunch yourself.
As you began to eat, a sudden shriek was heard in the classroom.
"My designer purse, it's gone!"
You turned your head to see a girl in your class, who you didn't really talk to, looking upset. Her friends approached her carefully.
"C-calm down, maybe you dropped it somewhere?" One spoke up.
She huffed, crossing her arms. "As if, I'm more careful with my stuff. Obviously someone would have stole it!"
