For a while now Minako had been acting odd. As soon as all classes had ended she left school immediately, giving you a quick apology as she went. You wouldn't see her until later when she was back at the dorm, but between Tartarus and student duties such a homework, there wasn't enough time to properly talk.

It made you a little sad, but you tried to think nothing of it. Minako was a busy girl, she was always helping people out, and she probably had stuff to do...

You frowned, shutting your notebook closed. "Agh, I can't focus!"

No matter how much you tried not to think about it, the make you did. Deep down, there was a worry that maybe she was bored of you. But, that couldn't be true. She wasn't that type of person.

You stared for a while at nothing in particular, trying to get your thoughts in order.

The door opened. "Y/n!"

Jumping, you swirly turned in your chair. "M-Minako? Why are you here?"

"To see you! Why wouldn't I be here?"

"Well, you've been busy lately..." You murmured, more to yourself than her. Still, she heard it.

She suddenly held onto your hand, pulling you up gently with an unexpectedly firm expression. You blinked her, puzzled.

"That's true, but I'm not now. So will you stay with me today?" She asked.

You wondered why she was being cryptic, but agreed. You really did miss her after all. Her face lit up.

"Great! Then, come with me." She instructed, and with a high pace she walked out the room, you in tow.

She was still careful as the two of you went downstairs as to not make you trip, and as you neared the door she playfully threw your coat at you.

Still confused, you put it on. "Hey, where are we-"

Minako had put a cotton hat over your head, tugging it over yours ears. "You'll see soon. It's cold, so wrap up!" She drew back to put on her own coat, but not before kissing your nose.

Outside the evening air was expectedly chilly, but having Minako's hand in yours helped you feel warmer. For a while the two of you continued to walk, you still being in the dark. Literally and figuratively.

Her ruby eyes glanced over to you, and she giggled at your perplexed expression. "Just wait and see, okay? I promise it's worth it."

You assumed that you were going for a surprise date somewhere by the mall, but Minako had passed it without a thought. You couldn't think of anywhere to go in the area she was heading.

That was until in the distance, you saw the faint glow of softly blinking Christmas lights, hung up around the trees surrounding the frozen over lake. You exchanged looks with Minako as you approached, and she smiled.

Now closer, you could see the lights clearly, the wires draped over various tree branches. They were a pretty white and periwinkle blue, giving off a winter wonderland feel. Your eyes fell to two pairs of ice skates, propped up next to each other.

"I wanted to do something special." Minako admitted, finally revealing her secrets. "It'll be our first Christmas together, so it had to be!"

You were still looking around in awe. "So this was...?"

She nodded. "Mm-hm! It took some time to get the lights up, and I wanted to make sure the ice was safe to skate on. It took longer than I thought."

"Wow... Minako, I..." You started, but couldn't find the words.

"I'm sorry if I made you worry. But I wanted to surprise you!" She clasped her hands together.

You chuckled. "You definitely did that. It's amazing, but... I've never ice skated before."

"It'll be a learning experience." She encouraged warmly. You laughed a bit at her positivity.

You each took off your shoes, wincing a bit at the cold ground beneath you both. Minako crouched to the ground, taking the ice skates.

"Allow me." She said jokingly, and you smiled. As she secured it, she gasped.

"What is it?" You questioned.

Minako looked up with a grin. "Cinderella, it fits!"

"Well, if I'm Cinderella, it only makes sense you'd be charming." You said bashfully.

She stood, holding her hands out to you. Bit by bit, you were eased onto the ice. "I try. I think you're the charming one though."

You looked away briefly, blushing. Then you felt the slippy floor beneath you. You clung onto Minako quickly, arms locked around her neck.

There was silence, the two of you still. Then, she giggled.

You tried to stand upright to face her. "Don't lau- ah!" Only to slip again.

She laughed a bit more. "Don't panic, I'm right here. I won't let you fall."

"... Promise?"

She nodded. "Of course!" She wrapped her arms around your waist. "At least this way I get to hug you at the same time."

Both of you stayed in place for a moment, when you backed up a bit to frown at her. "Where you getting ice skating lessons in secret too?"

"Hehe, no. Beginners luck."

You weren't sure whether to believe that, but let it slide. Speaking of sliding, your feet were steadily moving apart, and you began to panic, clinging to Minako once more.

She pat your back. "Let me help, stand up straight?"

You did so, although shakily and still holding her tightly. She smiled.

"Great! Now bend your knees a bit." She stepped back slowly, the both you back to being hand in hand. "Take small steps."

Even with her advice, your legs were still shaking. Noticing this, she squeezed your hand. "Here, I'll help."

Minako faced forward, and taking a few steps before she started to glide along the ice with ease. You were pulled along, eyes squeezed shut tight. But as she continued and you remembered the security of her touch, you slowly opened them.

She beamed. "See? Not bad!"

You were gliding along with her with ease. "I-I'm doing it!"

Laughing wholeheartedly, she faced you again and took both of your hands. "You have beginners luck too, Y/n-chan!"

Now with confidence, you glided around the ice covered pond, circling around it with Minako. The evening was a quiet one, and eventually snow flurried down from above.

You came to stop, with Minako followed suit. The two of you watched the snow fall, and then exchanged looks. You smiled as you noticed a snowflake on Minako's nose.

She smiled back, but look puzzled at the glint in your eyes. Without saying much else, you leaned forward and pecked her nose.

"That's payback for earlier!"

Minako blinked a few times, and laughed. "If that's payback, I'll just want to do it more!"

Sharing a couple giggles, they eventually faded in the night air. Minako gazed at you warmly, that the cold surrounding you felt nonexistent. She held you close, and then spoke into your ear.

"Merry Christmas."
