"Yukari? It's me." You called, your voice carrying over the closed wooden door.

The girl in question had locked herself away behind it, after seeing a recording of her deceased father and finding out his involvement with Tartarus. It was a hard video to watch by any means, so you couldn't imagine what it was like to be in her position.

"I'm sorry." You wished there was more you could say, but no more words could leave your mouth.

There was silence, when Yukari spoke up in an uneven voice. "Did senpai send you?"

"Senpai? No, I came here on my own. I was... Worried." You admitted. Having no answer, you continued. "We're all worried about you."

Still no reply. "It's okay if you don't want to talk right now, I can leave you alone." You said. "I don't blame you for feeling the way you do, after that."

Waiting a couple of moments with nothing, you moved to step away. The door opened a tiny crack, and you didn't move to open it anymore.

"I... Don't want to be alone." Yukari admitted. "I've had enough of that."

You nodded although she couldn't see it, and sat against the door gingerly. Neither of you spoke for a minute or two, when Yukari did so.

"It wouldn't be so much of a shock if I didn't trust him so much." Yukari said. "... But I did, I... Believed in him more than anything else. Even when we were getting harassed because of his job and had to move, I didn't blame him for it." She continued. "The reason I even joined here was to find out the truth about his death... Guess I found out."

Despite trying to keep her tone light, you could hear the shake in her voice. "And even now, I still wish he was here. I caught myself wishing it was Mitsuru's dad instead of mine." Yukari tried to force a laugh, but it was empty. "I'm just awful, aren't I?"

"I don't think so." You responded. "All of us are selfish like that. It doesn't make you an awful person."

"... You're just saying that." Slowly, a smiled formed, although you couldn't see it. "I just don't know what to do now."

Thinking about it, you spoke up. "Why not keep fighting with us?"

Her reply was delayed, like she couldn't think of what to say. "What...?"

"We can't change the past, but we can change the future. We can continue like we have so far, and keep fighting shadows." You explained. "The team wouldn't be the same without you there. W-Well that might sound a little too much... But to me it's true."

She went silent once again, and you worried you said something off. To your relief though, she answered.

"What is that, some kind of movie line?" She asked, wiping her eyes. At last though, her laugh was genuine.

You too chuckled at your words, sheepishly scratching your cheek. "Well, I did mean it all. Whatever you choose though, I'm... I'm here for you."

Out of the corner of your eye you noticed movement, and turned your head. Yukari's hand had crept out of the crack of the door, laying it flat on the carpet. Your hand hesitatingly hovered above it, when you finally let yours lay gently on top.

Yukari smiled behind the door. "I... I think I can stick around."

"I'm glad." You admitted, face warm at the contact. "The others will be too."

"Before I see them, can we..." Yukari paused. "I, I want to stay here for a while."

"That's fine, I don't mind." And that was true.

You heard another quiet laugh of hers, and smiled knowing she was feeling the tiniest bit better.

"Thanks." Yukari replied. "... For all you did."

Knowing she'd understand, you gave a non-verbal answer and squeezed her hand. It said more than your words could.
