For what felt the millionth time you traversed the seemingly endless railroad tracks, the dim red lights from the passing trains being your only guide. You didn't know how long you've been here for, but more than anything you wanted to leave. Every so often the clattering of the train wouldn't be the only thing echoing the in darkness, but also the unsettling grumbling of creatures that'd patrol the narrow halls.
At first you were confused on what this place even was. Convinced it was a dream you'd pinch your arm or slap your cheeks, but to no avail, when you opened your eyes you'd still see the bleak scenery... And be in pain.
Whatever those creatures were, your gut feeling told you to stay far away from them. Fortunately you managed to hide, staying out sight whenever they were near. You hated to think that you were getting used to this place, but you supposed that was better than running into whatever those things were.
With your hand on the wall to support you, you continued to try and look for an escape. Despite how much you seemed to travel though, everywhere looked the same. The identical hallways with an abundance of dead ends, even the railroads that'd often intersect with one another began to match ones you've already seen. Even though you were lucky enough to stay out of harms way, the sound of quiet whispering passed your ears. You tried to tell yourself it was just the wind.
'Ugh, this place sucks. I'm sick of it.'
Amidst the regular whispers and groans of the labyrinth, you heard... A humming?
You turned your head, staring down the halls. "What the... ?"
You focused on the noise, the sound getting louder. Now that you thought about, it kinda sounded like an engine...
Brights lights began to cover you, cascading your shadow against the looming walls. In surprise you turned around, only to see a black bus speeding towards you.
You froze up on the spot, staring in horror and shock as it came closer, when suddenly it came screeching to a halt, dust kicking up from its wheels.
Next you heard voices as the doors opened, but you were too bewildered to even call out to them. You slowly began to calm however as the voices were human.
"I-Is that a person? Or is it a shadow?" A light voice asked, sounding unnerved.
"I don't believe so." A deeper voice replied. "If they were we'd know from Oracle."
They exited the bus, some eyeing you warily. In a puff of smoke the bus disappeared, a small black and white cartoonish cat appearing in its place.
... Alright, maybe you inhaled some bad fumes in here.
A blonde girl spoke out first, waving her hand. "Uh, hey! Are you okay?"
Your voice came out quiet and uneven. "Y... Yeah, I think."
The group in front of you exchanged looks, leaving you to watch them at a loss. The fact they were humans like you gave you at least a bit of comfort, but a part of you also thought this was some illusion. Especially with the way they were dressed...
They came closer, their figures now more clear but their faces still obscured by the masks they wore.
A girl with spikes along her shoulders spoke first. "How long have you been here?"
You rubbed your arm, head hurting just thinking about it. "I don't know. Long enough."
The blonde twirled her hair thoughtfully. "If you've been here for while, then... Could it be that-?"
"Yep." A long-haired girl with goggles answered.
Everyone turned their heads to look at her. "Seriously?" A boy in a skull mask asked.
