Earlier you had received a text from Ann to meet you in Shibuya, and wouldn't answer when you questioned it. It wasn't that you had a problem, but you were curious about the reason why.

You watched absentmindedly as people passed, business men you presumed office workers. You had entered into a daze, until you felt a sudden weight on your back.

"W-Woah!" You stumbled, but managed to stay standing. In your peripheral vision you could see the curly locks of blonde hair, and you smiled. "You surprised me."

Ann laughed and stayed put with her arms around your shoulders in a loose hug. "That's what I was going for!"

"Well, you succeeded." You said. "So, what's up?"

Her eyebrows raised. "What's up? You forgot... ?"

"Huh?" Having not quite heard what she said, you looked to her quizzically.

She shook her head. "Well, I can work with that. Why don't we get some sweets?"

You chuckled, poking her cheek. "Is that all you wanted? Should've known you'd use me for sweets."

"No! Well, sometimes." She joked back, taking your hand. "But this time it's my treat!"

Ann took you through the streets of Shibuya, an upbeat bounce in her walk. You were still curious what had came over her like this, but you couldn't complain if she was happy. She brought you to a dessert shop that surprisingly you've never been to before, and you looked around in awe.

"This place is pretty fancy..." You noted. "I feel out of place, to be honest."

"Oh come on, anyone can be here." Ann reassured, patting the table to invite you over.

You complied, and smiled wearily. "And the price...?"

"It's fine!" She waved her hand. "I've been busy with modelling jobs lately, so I've got some extra to spend."

Before you could say anymore, she handed you the menu with a grin. You looked over it, and it was hard to pick something. Eventually you settled, and so did Ann after a lot of thought. When the dessert's arrived, Ann was in bliss.

"Mm, this sundae is so good!" She hummed. "No wonder this place gets great reviews!"

'It's definitely high-class... Are you sure that it's not expensive?" You asked worriedly. "We can split the-"

You were interrupted by a spoon, and soon distracted by the taste of vanilla.

"Oh, shush already! It'll be fine." Ann said, grinning. "It's good, right?"

You nodded, and she giggled. "Then that's all that matters! Also, since it's fair, I'm going to take a bite of your dessert."

"If you're sure... Ah hey, wait a sec!" You tried to shield your dessert, but it was no use. Ann laughed happily in her victory and put the spoon back in her mouth.

"Ooh, that's good too! I might have to have another bite." She teased, edging her spoon closer.

"Never, you'll have to fight me for it."

"Oh, I will!" Ann responded, and so you started a battle with your cutlery. Every time her spoon got close to your plate you'd swat it away with a 'clink' sound. After a few short moments, the two of you couldn't help laughing at yourselves.

Ann's face was flushed from laughter. You smiled at the sight of it. "I'd say that was an even fight."

"You just wait for next time." Ann stated teasingly. "Imagine not sharing your dessert with your girlfriend..."

Shaking your head, you replied. "I would have, if she didn't decide to steal it first."

"Force of habit, I guess!" She stuck out her tongue.

Jokingly you clicked your tongue in disappointment, and she just continued to giggle. The desserts were soon finished, but not without some more banter in between bites.

Afterwards, again without answering your curiosity, Ann brought you to the park. It was quaint as ever, and always a calming spot. As you sat on the bench, you tilted your head at her, puzzled.

"So, you just wanted to go on a date? You could've just said that." You told her.

Ann looked surprised. "You still don't know? Well, alright."

"Huh?" You watched her as she dug into her pocket, and presented a small wrapped gift box. In awe, you could only stare at it.

"Happy birthday!" Ann said happily, face aglow.

"Oh... Yeah, it is my birthday." You realised, scratching your cheek sheepishly.

"You just now noticed?" Ann chuckled. "Oh well, I got to surprise you, so it works out."

Shaking her hand lightly, she pushed the box further towards you. You took it gratefully, and felt somewhat embarrassed.

"Thank you." You said genuinely.

Ann giggled bashfully. "You haven't even seen it yet!"

You went ahead and opened it, carefully unwrapping the tissue paper. Inside the box was a attachable charm, and handmade as well. You could tell from the wobbly stitching and uneven lengths, but your heart felt full seeing it.

At your silence, Ann's face went pink. "Uh, yeah... I tried to make it special. One of a kind, y'know? Hehe..."

"I love it." Your reply was almost inaudible, but Ann heard it loud and clear.

A timid smile lifted her lips. "I'm glad. And... It's a matching one, too."

"Matching?" You echoed, and she nodded.

Searching her bag, she soon fished out her purse. On the zipper was a keychain like yours.

"You're so sweet, Ann." You said. "Thank you."

Her cheeks mostly red now, her eyes wandered to the ground as she spoke. "There's another I want to give you."

"Really?"

She nodded. "So close your eyes, don't peek!"

At her firm command you complied, puzzled. In the quiet park you focused on the subtle sounds; the rustle of clothing and the birds tweeting. Eventually you felt a presence close to you, and the warmth of a breath not so far away. You opened your eyes, just in time for Ann's lips to touch yours.

In surprise you could only stare, and she eventually pulled away. As she opened her eyes, she blushed furiously. "Wha- I said no peeking!"

"S-Sorry, it was an accident. I mean, sorta. I was just wondering what was happening..." You tried to explain, feeling flustered yourself.

Ann twirled her hair, a small pout on her face. "Well, it's okay... I don't regret doing it."

Something about her expression, somehow cuter than usual, made your own face burn up. Reaching out your hand, you cupped her cheek and she turned to you now in surprise.

"Huh? W-Wait, wait!" She stuttered, flustered.

"I can't?" You asked quietly.

Ann whined, nervous and red-faced. "O... Okay, then. I'm ready!"

You chuckled at her reaction, and returned the kiss. She relaxed a little, and as you pulled away she was smiling. Her turquoise eyes rose to meet yours, and she giggled.

"Happy birthday!"
