After facing her shadow self and gaining friends faster than she expected, Rise was feeling much better than she did previously. However that didn't mean all her problems ended there, and although she had support, she still had a lot to deal with. That being clingy fans, and gossipers.
"Thanks again, Senpai, but I think I've got the place down now." She smiled at Yukiko and Chie, two girls a year above her.
"Oh, is that so? You're a fast-learner, Rise." Yukiko complimented, beaming.
Chie raised an eyebrow, "Yeah, but this place is super small anyways, it wouldn't take long to remember where things are." Her expression morphed to concern as her gaze flickered to the former idol. "Are you gonna be okay with other stuff though? Some people can be real creeps."
Rise shook her head lightly. "I'll be fine Chie-senpai. I'm used to it."
"U-Um... That's not a good thing to get used to." Chie mumbled, but shook her head. "Well if you're sure, then okay. Just call me if there's any problems!"
"That goes for me, too!" Yukiko piped up.
"Okay, okay. Reall though, I'll be fine." She said once more before waving her hand. "See you!"
Rise continued to wave before she turned the corner, letting her hand fall as she switched shoes and exited the school. She was used to feeling stares, but knowing they saw her shadow self made her sigh with unease. It couldn't be helped at this point, but it didn't make it any less humiliating.
At least with the sparse paths leading back to her Grandma's shop came peace and quiet, the only other sounds belonging to the odd car that passed or the tweeting of birds. Other students formed in group but slowly began to disband as they neared their homes. However Rise noticed that the presence behind her hadn't faltered at all.
Unconsciously her grip had tightened on the strap of her bag, thoughts racing through her mind. Maybe it was just someone on their way home, or was it really a stalker? Her stomach twisted uncomfortably, and she knew her gut instinct was right.
What could she do then? She couldn't think at all!
Rise's footsteps halted for a moment as an idea sprung to mind. That's right, she could call Chie! She quckly fumbled with her bag, fishing inside to retrieve her phone. Flipping it open, she hurriedly scrolled through her contacts and pressed 'call'. The action caused the panic to subside, only for the feeling to grow when she heard nothing but a dull, repetitive tone on the line.
Once she was asked to leave a message, she cancelled before calling Yukiko. Whatever hope she had left soon diminished when she was met with the same voice, and she hung up. As the footsteps behind Rise became brisker in pace, as did hers but she was still quite away from home.
No matter how long her eyes searched for safety, the street was much too wide and empty to consider stopping somewhere. Plus she was no stranger to behaviour like this; they weren't going to stop easily. At least before she was always in the presence of other people, so it seemed like less of a threat. Now though, it was much different.
In an attempt to lose them, Rise ducked into a narrow side-path, only for her to run head first into someone due to her hastiness. She looked up, seeing a boy stare back at her. That was yourself, and you couldn't be more puzzled.
"... You okay?"
Wide-eyed, she gazed at you for a loss before swiftly turning her head, so fast her hair flew around her shoulders wildly. "Um-"
"I can't believe Risette is here..." Footsteps paired with a low voice increased in volume as the source grew closer, and down the pathway you could see a trudging figure, head tilted downwards. Slowly they looked up, the grin widening on their face. "Risette, I'm your biggest fan! Don't you remember me?"
