"I'm so sorry about this Y/n-chan." Fuuka apologised again, bowing her head. "I could've sworn I had it on the right temparature..."
You smiled reassuringly at her to ease her worries, patting her shoulder. "It's okay, Fuuka... I can clean it for you."
Her eyes widened significantly. "Oh, I couldn't ask you to do that. You've already helped me enough as it is."
"That's what friends are for." You stated gently, feeling happy when you saw her smile again.
"Okay, if you're really sure..." Fuuka trailed off, halfway out the kitchen. You confirmed it and she finally left to go upstairs.
You looked around the kitchen, wondering where to start. While trying to help Fuuka in the kitchen she made some tiny mistakes... Which caused some big messes. After attempting to bake a cake, the temparature in the oven was too hot, causing it to seemingly explode against the door. Although the cake itself was already sinking to one side previously, you noticed...
Well, it wasn't anything that couldn't be cleaned up! It wasn't that you severely disliked cleaning either. You truly loved the company of your friends, but being as shy as you were you did like some time to spend to yourself.
Finding the cleaning supplies, you knelt down by the oven and got started, putting earphones in your ears. You always found that cleaning was much more enjoyable while listening to music.
The catchy tune flooded through the small speakers, and almost instantly you had begun bobbing your head from side to side in rhythm with your wiping. After the first chorus, the lyrics repeated, and the vocalist in the song wasn't the only one singing.
"Mid-day street walks, lights fell and dispersed in the air." You sang along, standing up once the oven door was clean. "Nobody stopped to see them fade, your eyes seemed so..."
In the midst of collecting used measuring jugs and the like and putting the, in the sink, the door to the dorm itself opened. Despite the loudness of the thud it made after it had been closed, you didn't hear it from your music.
"Way of life... Way of life, I heard you say we were on the same street." You began scrubbing at the dishes, and not too long after doing so they became spotless. "Way of life, way of my life..."
You noticed there wasn't a kitchen cloth nearby to dry them with, and turned around only to get the fright of your life.
"M-Minato!" Standing behind you was your boyfriend, seemingly in a daze. You put a hand over your quickened heart.
"You scared me there... How come you didn't say anything when you came in?" You asked.
Minato remained silent for a moment, his eyes focusing after he blinked. "I did. You didn't hear me because you were singing."
"Wha-?" It then occurred to you that you were, in fact, singing. "Oh, I... Th-That's..."
"You never told me you liked to sing. Or that you were good at it." He brought up casually, however it only made your face burn even further.
"I'm not! I mean, I do like it, but I'm not really..." You mumbled, trying to sort out your sentences. Flustered, you brought your hands up to your face. "Um, I mean..."
Instead of hearing a reply, you first felt Minato take your hands in his, pulling them away gently from your face. With your face uncovered you were met with his usually calm but mellow gaze.
"What are you embarrassed about?" He questioned, his fingers loosely weaving in between your own.
After attempting to maintain your composure, you responded. "Because... It's embarrassing having other people hear me sing."
"You're good, though." He answered. "... Really good."
Although his voice was soft, his last words were heard by you and caused your heart to quicken. "Y-You don't have to say that..."
"It's just the truth." Minato shrugged, but his light eyes averted to the side. It could've just been the lighting in the kitchen, but was he blushing, too?
To try and confirm your suspicions, you unconsciously leaned closer to see his face. Minato easily noticed this and looked back at you. When your eyes locked with his, it was only then you noticed the close proximity.
"Ah, sorry!" You blurted out quickly, staggering backwards. As you had assumed the sink was behind you, you grabbed at it to get your balance back, only to feel nothing but air. Realising this you reached forward to hold on Minato, but ended up dragging him down with you.
You had expected to acquire a throbbing headache from the fall, but Minato had managed to wrap his palms around the back of your head, protecting it. Everything had happened so fast, it took you a moment to get your bearings.
"M-Minato?" You voiced, moving your head slightly to try look at his face. "Are you okay?"
You didn't need to do it for to long as he had withdrew himself from the embrace, looking down at you. "Mhm. You?"
You nodded, but still the worried expression remained on your face. "Are you sure? You didn't bump your head...?"
You began to gently pat his temples, closing your eyes and sighing with relief when he seemed fine. "Oh, good. I thought you had-"
When you opened your eyes again, you came to realise the two of you were still on the floor. Feeling overwhelmingly embarrassed you quickly tried to get up.
"Sorry, I didn't notice that- ow!"
"Ouch."
... And your forehead collided into Minato's.
Minato rubbed his head. "There's probably a bump now."
"There probably is for me, too...." You let out a quiet sheepish laugh.
There was a lull in the conversation, but you didn't think much of it. After all Minato was very much the silent type, and usually spoke with actions instead of words.
That sentiment could be held true now, as Minato leaned forward, placing his fingertips on your forehead and pressing a gentle kiss there.
You froze, but your cheeks burned. "Minato...?"
He sat back, a small and rare smile on his face. "It's an apology, for hurting your head."
You stared at him for a moment, feeling butterflies flutter in your stomach as you quickly leaned forward and did the same, kissing the red mark on his forehead before you could think twice about it.
Despite your quick and curt moment of bravery, you felt bashful as you sat back. "Th-There... That's my apology."
Minato's lips parted, staying silent for a moment before he gave you a calm smile again. You couldn't help but smile back.
"So, are you going to sing again?" He asked, sounding serious in his query.
You blushed, covering your red face again. "Minato!"

A/N: Requested by @SHSL_STEMGIRL11037 !
This was such a cute request so I hope I did it justice! I just picked 'Way of Life' because that's my favourite song, haha 😊
Also, I just wanted to ask: what would you all like to see in my writing? I've been trying to add more romance/fluff but I was wondering if there's anything else you'd like to see? Should I be more descriptive? Things like that. ^^
Let me know if there is! But don't feel pressured to answer. :)
