Your footsteps had felt heavy as you walked alone, the sole of your shoes thudding loudly against the quiet road. You were abruptly told that the issue with your new home had been resolved, and left the Inn the morning after. To your dismay you didn't see Yukiko again before you left. Despite knowing her a short time, you really enjoyed her company, and above all... She was your first friend.
With a sigh, you had shook your head. There was no use lamenting over the fact now. It's not as if you could just visit her at the Inn, unless you wanted an entourage of uninvited guests along with you. Thankfully though you managed to convince your bodyguards that you could get to school yourself.
You were apprehensive about attending. Part of you wanted to meet more people your age, and the other part of you was begging your feet to just halt in place. If this was your chance of even having the tiniest bit of a normal life though, then you were going to take it!
And so that mindset it led you here; standing at the front of the classroom with fidgeting hands you hid in your pockets. The teacher was loud and brash, and if you were even an inch closer you were sure you'd get spit in your face.
"Hey, you listening? Introduce yourself already!"
"Hm?" You blinked, standing straight. "Oh, right. I'm Y/n L/n. Nice to meet you..."
He narrowed his eyes. "Tch, kids these days! Thinking 'cause you answered you're off the hook!"
"I-"
"Hurry up and sit down!"
Without complaint you made your way to a free seat, although you felt the need to roll your eyes. However as you passed, you instead locked eyes with a girl with straight black hair, and a red cardigan. You almost stopped in place in shock, feeling more so when she sent you a small smile. Knowing that the teacher would get mad again though, you went to your seat.
Class went by normally, and you could follow what was being taught without much trouble. You did find it hard to concentrate at time though, as you were idly waiting for the period to end so you could talk to Yukiko.
'But wait, would she even want to talk?' The sudden thought entered your head as you twirled your pencil. 'Maybe she was being polite when she smiled at me...'
As your negative thoughts continued to pop up like weeds, a shadow castes over your desk, and a voice called out. Surprised you stood straight, pencil flying out your hands and onto the floor.
You bent down to pick it up, another hand bumping into it there. Finally looking up, your mouth fell open to see the familiar face yet again.
"So you are transferring!" Yukiko smiled, picking up your pencil. "I figured that."
You took it with an awkward nod. "Yeah, that's right. I didn't know you'd be here too."
"Well, it is the closest school." She pointed out. "I'm happy I get to see you again, you left so suddenly and I didn't have the chance to say goodbye."
You frowned. "I know, I wanted to... Wait, really? You're happy?"
"Of course, we're friends." Yukiko answered sincerely, when her face lit up as if an idea just crossed her mind. "Oh! Speaking of which, you should meet everyone else."
Following her to the middle of the room, you were met face to face with three new people. A girl wearing a bright green jacket, a boy with headphones resting around his neck, and another boy with grey-coloured hair. Yukiko gestured to them as she spoke.
"These are my friends, Chie, Yosuke, and Yu-kun."
"Ah... Nice to meet you." Was your hesitant reply. You were still getting used to this different atmosphere the school had from your past ones.
