"Remember, if you feel faint or tired, make sure to-"

"Makoto," Akira chimed in. "She'll be fine."

You sent a smile to your worrying sister. "Yeah, I'll be alright. You saw me fight before."

"I know, but..." Makoto started, eyebrows drawn together.

Ann joined the conversation, patting her back. "C'mon, you know she's safe with us!" She assured.

Eventually agreeing, Makoto nodded and smiled. "That is true."

"So let's get going already! Those shadows aint gonna beat up themselves." Ryuji suggested, cracking his knuckles.

With a few taps on Akira's phone screen, the world around you seemed to dim and distort, and the subway changed appearance. It was dark and clearly not the same as the one you entered to get to school.

"If you're anything like Queen, this is gonna be a bloodbath." Ryuji, now decked out in black said to you, and you glanced around at everyone's masked faces. After your Persona awakening you were exhausted, so you didn't have a clear memory of the phantom thief gear. At least you knew everyone already, besides the Kosei student Yusuke.

"Th-That's hardly true, Skull." Makoto denied, but kept her composure. "So this is your image of rebellion? I wouldn't have expected it."

"I wouldn't think you would expect anything..." You murmured, but at her puzzled head tilt you spoke up. "Yours is cool too, Makoto."

"Ah, thank you." She smiled back, but it didn't seem to reach her eyes. Maybe she did hear you after all.

"Should we decide on a codename for her now? I imagine it'll be detrimental to battle if we don't." Yusuke said, hang to his chin.

Ann hit her palm with her fist. "That's right! Since we've got Queen, why not something like Princess?"

"It certainly fits the theme, but..." Yusuke trailed off. "Ah, why not a name of a chess piece? Rook, for example."

Before a decision was reached, you spoke up, fighting back the urge to tap your foot impatiently. "If it's alright, I'd like to decide on a codename. One that doesn't have any relation."

The group turned to you. "Great, that saves time." Morgana said. "So, what is it?"

"(Codename)," You replied. "I want to be known as that."

Everyone agreed, and you set off into the depths of Mementos. You felt Makoto's stare on your back, but you feigned ignorance. It was cramped in the bus with the amount of people, but you could put up with it.

"You might be a lil' nervous, but we got ya. I mean, most shadows don't even stand a chance against this thing." Ryuji to the metal pipe he wielded.

"Real subtle, Skull." Ann chided, shaking her head. "Showing off."

Ryuji gawked at her. "What?!"

You already tuned out the rest of the conversation. Was this just going to be a babysitting trip fr them? You could handle yourself fine. Makoto being around didn't help in the slightest either. And why was she staring so much anyway?

Subconsciously you slumped against the seat and sighed, which caught the attention of your classmate Ryuji. Before he could even start a conversation, Mona came to a halt.

"This should be a good level to start with." Akira said more to himself than anyone else, and everyone exited the bus.

What looked to be a shadow slithered over the corner, a low grumbling resounding in the endless subway. You put a hand to your weapon, but was stopped. You met eyes with Makoto, and although she seemed to wither under your gaze she didn't withdraw.
