As the sky got darker, the air got much colder as well. Paulownia Mall was mostly empty, the only sound amongst the wind blowing through the leaves in trees being the thumping bass from the nightclub on the left side of the Mall.
You've thought about going inside simply for warmth, but knew the staff would kick you out. Plus seeing drunk people stumble around and yell was enough to make you change your mind.
Frequently you would stay around the area, as it was well-lit enough to be comforting. Recently though, there's been something new that's caught your eye. In an un-used alleyway there was a gentle glow shining through from the cracks of a dark door, seemingly invisible to everyone else as nobody even looked over to it. As one would expect, it intrigued you. The door looked almost magic, and you wanted to know more.
One day you finally had enough courage to approach it, your small and shaky hands grasping the handle. Under the weight of your palms it creaked open, and a bright light blinded your sight.
When you opened them again, you were in a room. The walls were strange, looking to be the walls from the outside of a moving elevator. A large clock was hung on the front wall, ticking softly. The entire room was covered in a deep blue and purple, and looked to be quite luxurious.
'Is this someone's house?' You thought to yourself. If so, you felt a little bad for just inviting yourself in. You were interested though!
Without even being conscious of it, your feet began to move on their own and you found yourself inspecting the room. You couldn't control the excited gasp that left your mouth when you saw a miniature fridge hidden under a sapphire coloured curtain. You opened it with the little strength you had, peering inside.
Without bothering to read the labels, you grabbed the first packet of food and opened it quickly, stuffing yourself with the contents. You couldn't remember the last time you ate properly, all you've had was tap water from the public bathrooms! Distracted by the good food, you failed to hear the clicking of heels approaching you.
"Oh my." A light voice said. You jumped at the sound, looking up.
A girl in a knee length dress, the colour resembling the rest of the room was looking down at you curiously. In her arms she held a thick book, her gloved hands carefully carrying the object. Her skin was pale, similar to her hair that was cut just under her ears. Her strange yellow eyes were filled with wonder, reminding you of the stray cats you've seen while walking around.
"I...I-I'm sorry! I was just wondering what was inside, so I came in, and-" you were about ramble, when she spoke.
"How interesting, one who is not of familiarity to walk in so easily, this truly is fascinating!" Her face seemed to light up, her expression not showing any signs of anger.
"Huh?" You were confused. "Is this your house miss?"
Her smile didn't fade as she talked. "One could say that it is, for I am deeply connected with this room, and also it's inhabitants." She replied. "That makes it all the more interesting as to why you are here."
"I said, remember? I saw the door, and-" You tried to explain, but were cut off.
"What a mystery! Perhaps you are similar to them, but my master has not informed me of your existence as yet."
'Them? I wonder who that is...' You shook your head, not wanting to be nosy. From what you could understand from what the strange girl was saying, was that this was were she lived, and by that logic you were disturbing her.
You looked down, trying to hide the grimace your face held. You weren't looking forward to finding somewhere to sleep.
"Um, I'm really sorry Miss." You said quietly, readying yourself to go.
