"I'm sorry, could you repeat that?" Naoto questioned, unsure she heard right.

The employee answered in the same even tone, not noticing the young detective's disbelief. "Someone will be joining you on this case. He's had great results, so this shouldn't be any different."

"B... But I can handle this by myself, I hardly see the need to have someone else assisting me." Naoto responded.

He shrugged, no longer finding in interest in continuing the conversation. "Gets things done quicker, doesn't it? He has to travel, but we'll let you know when he arrives."

With that he swung around in their chair, resuming his typing. Naoto held back a sigh and forced her feet to take her out of the building. As she exited and felt the cool breeze against her face, she looked up as if the sky would give her some kind of answer.

"Who is this person, anyway...?"

The train soon stopped, arriving at its destination. Legs feeling numbing from sitting so long you swayed during your departure for the vehicle, but feeling the fresh air made you feel better almost instantly.

Luckily you had some family in Inaba, so you could stay with them while you had work. Unlocking your phone, you looked over the directions your aunt gave you as you walked into the street.

From what you could guess it wasn't too far away, and with a bit of traveling you arrived to a lonely looking street. Shops occupied the pavement although most were closed, and only a handful of people were walking past you. In some way though, it was peaceful.

You looked down at the directions once more to make sure you hadn't gotten lost, when another sudden breeze blew past you. It was a bit chilly, but nothing too uncomfortable... What was though was what seemed to be soft fabric hitting your face.

It stayed there stubbornly before you grabbed hold of it, tugging it down and looking at it properly. It was a hat, and blue in colour. Raising an eyebrow you turned in in your hand before looking up to see what you guessed was the owner approaching.

"Thank you for catching it. The weather has been a bit unruly lately." They spoke in an even tone.

"I didn't really do much, the hat's the one who came to me." You said jokingly and the other person chuckled a bit. They raised their head as they took the hat, and you got an abrupt feeling of déjà vu as you saw their face.

Your wide-eyed gaze didn't go unnoticed to them, and you were sent a confused look of their own.

"Sorry," you started, catching yourself. "But do I know you...?"

"No, you don't." Was the hurried reply, and tugging the cap down they hid their face. "Thank you, but I must be going."

They brushed past you, leaving you bewildered as you watched their determined footsteps lead them down the street.

"Huh..."

You decided to shrug it off and leave it at that. You came here for a reason, and you had to reserve your thinking for the case you were called here to solve. Apparently you were to work as a partner for another detective, but you supposed you'd meet them tomorrow.

Reminiscent of the weather just the day before, the indecisive wind whipped Naoto's hair back, promoting her to pull down her cap further. She knew she had to cast her thoughts aside so she could focus, but she just couldn't. Part of her was still in disbelief that the person she knew years ago was here now...
