After graduation and everything that had happened prior, Mitsuru found herself at a loss. She never had these thoughts about her life before, and now they were a constant plague of her mind. What should she do now? What could she do now?
It's not that she wishes for the return of Nyx, she knows despite her constant sadness that'd be the worst outcome. She just wishes that Nyx could have been defeated some other way, as he disappeared as well as the shadow.
The boy who had transferred, quiet but attentive who she felt stole her heart. All those memories that used to make her smile now a grim reminder of reality. She knew the rest at SEES found it hard as well, but couldn't shake off her own mourning to help them feel any better.
Being a part of SEES as well as Mitsuru's close friend, you always saw her heartache at a close proximity. Around others she'd keep a calm exterior, but being a close friend of hers you knew how she really felt. You were just unsure how to approach her. However constantly seeing her downcast gaze made you adamant about helping her.
She was sitting on the couch in the lounge of the dorm, a newspaper in her hands although she wasn't focusing on it. You took a seat adjacent to her, calling her name. She looked up at you, blinking.
"Oh, Y/n. I apologise, I didn't see you there."
You paused, distracted by the dark circles underneath her eyes. "Don't worry about it. Hey, want to go for a walk?"
Her expression didn't change much, although her thin red eyebrows creased a bit. "... Right now?"
"Don't feel you have to." You quickly said. "I just thought getting some fresh air could help."
Misturu's grip on the newspaper loosened, soon leaving her hands altogether as she stood up. "... Yes, that could be true. Although I may not be the best company."
You tried to give her a reassuring smile. "You don't have to worry about that."
For a moment she seemed to smile, but it disappeared just as soon as it showed.

The walk was quiet, as the two of you didn't exchange words. If not for the constant sounds of Iwatodai Strip Mall, then there'd be silence. You decided to finally speak up.
"It's pretty busy as usual, huh?" You mentally cursed yourself for your awkward delivery. It wasn't that you were uncomfortable around Mitsuru, rather you didn't know what to say.
Her hands were clasped in her lap. "Yes. It feels as though the events that had transpired were non-existent."
You nodded thoughtfully. "Yeah..."
After everyone had begun to believe in the false 'messiah', people were beginning to give up on their lives, and the streets grew scarce and empty. Thankfully things had gotten better.
Mitsuru's eyes closed, her expression looking almost pained. You put a hesitant but comforting hand on her shoulder.
"Misturu?"
She inhaled slowly, then opened her eyes. They were misty.
"Forgive me, I just..." She trailed off. "I'm just remembering the past."
The implications of that hit you immediately. "S-Sorry! Maybe this wasn't the best place..."
She shook her head. "No, there's no need to apologise. I'll have to become accustomed to it, that's all..."
You watched her as she looked down at her palms. Feeling your stare, she turned to you and managed to smile.
"I'm alright. It's nice getting fresh air."
