Once again you were in a daze in class. It was the end of the day and Ryoji was going to walk you home, but he was currently talking to his large amount of fans. This was a daily occurrence, and he usually had to make them calm down before the two of you could leave properly.
"Ugh, there he goes again." A classmate of yours said.
"Sh, his girlfriend is right there!" A whispered voice replied, and you lifted your head.
The girl looked surprise. "Sorry, L/n-san..."
"Doesn't it bother you? If my boyfriend still talked to a bunch of girls like that, I'd be pretty annoyed." Her friend said with a frown.
"It's okay, I trust him." You answered honestly. "We've talked about it, it's just they won't really calm down until they get to talk to him..."
She looked unconvinced, but simply shrugged. "Hm, alright."
You meant what you said, but as you were walking home you found that the earlier conversation wouldn't leave your mind. The question, 'doesn't it bother you?' repeated over and over, and each time your resolve would crumble. It... Didn't sit fully right with you.
It wouldn't do to be constantly thinking about it though- Ryoji was coming over today and you didn't want to spend the day feeling down about things. But even if you told yourself that, the thought remained.
Ryoji took your hand in his, and as you met eyes he smiled. "We're away from them now, so they won't see us and get jealous."
"Ah, right..." You replied. Usually his smile brought such comfort to you, but you couldn't help but focus on his word choice. So 'they' get jealous?
Not feeling very talkative, you were relatively quiet on the walk back. Ryoji would speak every now and then and you'd hum in reply or nod, but he soon noticed your lack of addition in the conversation.
It became increasingly obvious when you got home, and he watched you as you cast your bag to the side. You suggested a movie, but unlike other times where you'd take the opportunity to cuddle up, you sat reserved on one side with your arms folded. It wasn't on purpose, but you couldn't shake off the heavy feeling from your heart.
Perhaps fifteen minutes in, you weren't counting, Ryoji paused it. You looked to him quizzically.
"Tell me what's wrong."
"Nothing is, I'm fine," You replied, but he didn't take it. "I'm just tired."
"Tell me the truth." Ryuji said softly. "Did I do something?"
You paused, unable to think of a lie. Knowing the real reason now, a sad expression took its place of Ryuji's face.
"I thought so... What upset you?" He asked.
Still you hesitated, thinking it may be silly to mention after all. What if he thought it was laughable, and decided he didn't want to be with you? The fear paralysed you.
Distracting by your running thoughts, you didn't notice Ryoji move closer until he had taken your hand once again. You met this eyes and his own were gentle and kind.
"I don't want you to be sad, and I especially don't want to be the reason why... if I can fix it, I want to." He said, his thumb beginning to move in circles on your skin. "So please..."
"But it's stupid, and... A-And it doesn't really matter." You struggled to reply.
"So there's no harm telling me, is there?"
You sighed. It was hard to say no to that face.
"Today a girl asked... If you spending so much time with your fans girls bothered me." You confessed. "It didn't at first! But I thought about it, and... I..."
Ryoji smiled, but not in a teasing way like usual. "You were jealous?"
You grimaced. The word you were trying to avoid. "Well..."
"You're so cute."
"Don't fun of me." You turned away, embarrassed. "I told you it was stupid."
"Well, it is silly that you think I have eyes on anyone but you." Ryoji responded.
Unsure, you glanced at him. "..."
"It's true! You don't believe me?"
"It's not that, it's just..." You trailed off.
Ryoji nodded to himself, a strange determination to him. "Then I'll just prove it."
Confused, you turned to him and raised your eyebrows. "Prove? How- Ah!"
Face feeling aflame, you gawked at Ryoji as he lifted your hand and kissed it. You could only stare, stunned.
"I love how your hands fit so well with mine, how soft they are." He said, and moved to the other. When he was done, he leaned in close to your face.
"I love when your cheeks get all warm, like right now." He smiled, and then kiss you there as well.
Two gentle hands chipped your cheeks, and Ryoji's nose was almost touching yours. Even if you wanted to, you couldn't shrink away from his unwavering gaze.
"And I really love getting to kiss you, like this." And he did.
His hands stayed there even after the pulled away, and he chuckled at your bashful look. "And-"
"O-Okay, I get it!" You weakly interrupted, too embarrassed for him to go on.
Ryoji pinched your cheeks lightly. "I love you. I love everything about you."
You put your hands over his, feeling somewhat at ease despite your sheepishness. "I love you, too..."
"I wouldn't pick anyone else over you." He said seriously, loosening his grip. "I'll... Find another way to deal with them. I don't want to make you sad."
You shook your head. "No, I understand... I'm okay with it. A-As long as you give me attention too."
As soon as the words left your mouth, you regretted saying them. Agh, what a dumb thing to say!
But instead of finding it childish or annoying, Ryoji laughed wholeheartedly.
"Of course, you'll get plenty of attention. Maybe more than you bargained for." He said with a wink.
"Ryoji!" You huffed, and he replied with another laugh and wrapped you in a tight hug.
